Aims and scope

Asian Journal of Innovation and Policy (AJIP)

The Asian Journal of Innovation and Policy is an open-access journal listed in EBSCO Host and Korea Citation Index that is now available from the Web of Science.

  1. Focus and Scope

The Asian Journal of Innovation and Policy (AJIP) is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to innovation and policy of science and technology (S&T), flag-shipped with the Asian Society for Innovation and Policy (ASIP).

Numerous journals have focused on S&T innovation and policy. However, AJIP aims to understand how underdeveloped and developing countries have experienced catch-up and post-catch-up activities. While the regional scope started from Asian countries, AJIP is now expanding the regional coverage to Africa and E.U. countries as well as countries located in America. AJIP mainly encompasses various innovation and policy issues found and reported from academia, business, and public sectors. Based on the journal’s foci, AJIP includes six sub-fields as shown below and a general innovation field:

  • Economics of Technology that deals with various economic issues associated with the development and use of new technologies
  • Management of Technology that includes management disciplines in organizations when managing new technological fundamentals for competitive advantage
  • Science and Technology Policy that concerns various policy issues affecting society due to new introduction associated with technology, science, and innovations
  • Regional Innovation and Technology that identifies and analyzes various innovative issues in urban and regional boundary stemming from new technological innovation
  • Technological and System Innovation that reveals system innovation associated with new technologies
  • Environment and Health Innovation that investigates how new technologies have been associated with various environmental and health issues

AJIP accepts three types of manuscripts for publication as follows:

  • Original research articles: empirical or conceptual studies with new findings, new theories that integrate existing literature and/or an innovative, cutting-edge model in S&T.
  • Practice-based articles: studies that describe significant applications in innovative experiences and/or case studies experienced when implementing existing concepts or methodology in S&T.
  • Book reviews: manuscripts that provide detailed peer review of recently published or theoretically and empirically essential books that can deliver innovations in S&T.

  1. Editorial Strategy

     C. Review Process

  • A double peer-blind review process is used to assure the anonymity of authors and reviewers; neither reviewers nor authors know each other's information
  • The submitted manuscript is first screened by the AJIP editors and the Pre-review Board Committee (PBC), where it can be desk-rejected if it is out of AJIP scope and fails to meet a minimum threshold for quality and originality without being sent out to reviewers.
  • A manuscript that passes through the initial review screen, the manuscript is typically sent to referees. If at least one turns down the invitation to provide a review, other referees will subsequently be appointed. Normally, reviews are needed before handling. The Editor-in-Chief can decide the manuscript to be ‘accepted,’ ‘rejected,’ or ‘revised and resubmitted’ for the submitted paper.

D. Page Proof

Pages proofread sent to the principal author of the paper before its publication. Minor and typographical errors should be corrected according to the instructions enclosed with the proofreading. In general, major changes in the original manuscript are not permitted at this stage. To avoid the need for such changes, authors are strongly recommended to proofread their manuscripts carefully before the final submission.

E. Copyright

It is the AJIP policy to own the copyright of the published manuscript. To comply with Copyright law, authors are required to sign the copyright transfer form before the publication. The form is returned to authors giving full rights to reuse their material for their purposes.
