Abstract

In a wireless mobile communication system, a pilot signal has been considered to be a necessary signal for estimating a changing channel between a base station and a terminal. All mobile communication systems developed so far have a specification for transmitting pilot signals. However, although the pilot signal transmission is easy to estimate the channel,(Ed: unclear wording: it is easy to use the pilot signal transmission to estimate the channel?) it should be minimized because it uses radio resources for data transmission. In this paper, we propose a pilotless channel estimation scheme (PCE) by introducing the clustering method of unsupervised learning used in our deep learning into channel estimation.(Ed: highlight- unclear) The PCE estimates the channel using only the data symbols without using the pilot signal at all. Also, to apply PCE to a real system, we evaluated the performance of PCE based on the resource block (RB), which is a resource allocation unit used in LTE. According to the results of this study, the PCE always provides a better mean square error (MSE) performance than the least square estimator using pilots, although it does not use the pilot signal at all. The MSE performance of the PCE is affected by the number of data symbols used and the frequency selectivity of the channel. In this paper, we provide simulation results considering various effects(Ed: unclear, clarify).

Abstract

Online shopping is increasing worldwide. Providing customers actual feeling of the product is essential in online shopping. Various technological aids can be used to support visual feeling. When delivering visual tangibility, it is important to study which attributes are significant in product presentations that best portray the actual tactileness. In this perspective, we suggest ‘visual tactility’ (VT) as a parameter for delivering tangibility in visual presentation. By measuring visual tactility in different product types, latent factors of visual tactility were identified and their influence on purchase intention was determined in this study. We defined material properties of touch such as surface texture, hardness, temperature, and weight as Visual Tactility (VT), the influential factor of tactility. We investigated the influence of VT on product purchase intention and analyzed tactileness within four online product presentations: single static picture, multi static pictures, zoom, and video. Our purpose was to investigate underlying effects of visual tactile attributes on touch and determine their influences according to online product presentation formats. Our results showed that visual tactility positively affected purchase intention and that each attribute differed in importance according to product type. Moreover, this study revealed a strong relation between online product presentation and VT attributes. These results provide a guide when selecting which presentation is optimal for delivering a product’s tactility in online shopping situation.

Abstract

Although there have been studies regarding the influence of customer reviews on consumer decision making at online shopping sites, research on factors affecting the perceived customer review quality for online shopping sites is limited. This study posits that sociability, which is one of the environmental factors of an online shopping site, can affect the quality of customer reviews. Sociability is a key factor in building a collaborative environment online, but studies have been limited to applying sociability to customer reviews that are the result of a collaborative environment. This study expects that sociability affects the performance of online shopping sites through the perceived information quality of customer reviews, and customers’ efficacy. More specifically this study investigates the structural relationship between sociability, self-efficacy, collective efficacy, and the perceived information quality of the reviews in an online shopping context, regarding the patronage intention of customers. This study was conducted using a survey of 361 college students. The structural equation model results indicate that user perception of sociability increases self-efficacy and collective efficacy. The improved efficacy enhances the perceived information quality of reviews for online shopping sites, which increases patronage intention of customers. This study found that online shopping sites require a platform for customers to engage in social interaction to enhance their customers’ loyalty and lifetime value.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an efficient traffic light detection (TLD) method as an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) for elderly drivers. Since an increase in traffic accidents is associated with the aging population and an increase in elderly drivers causes a serious social problem, the provision of ADAS for older drivers via TLD is becoming a necessary(Ed: verify word choice: necessary?) public service. Therefore, we propose an economical TLD method that can be implemented with a simple black box (built in camera) and a smartphone in the near future. The system utilizes a color pre-processing method to differentiate between the stop and go signals. A mathematical morphology algorithm is used to further enhance the traffic light detection and a circular Hough transform is utilized to detect the traffic light correctly. From the simulation results of the computer vision and image processing based on a proposed algorithm on Matlab, we found that the proposed TLD method can detect the stop and go signals from the traffic lights not only in daytime, but also at night. In the future, it will be possible to reduce the traffic accident rate by recognizing the traffic signal and informing the elderly of how to drive by voice.

Abstract

There are several problems facing our society today that are caused by demographic changes, such as an increase in the ageing population. The rapid increase in the aging population leads to increases in medical costs and a higher demand for care services for the elderly. The needs and burdens associated with elderly care are growing, but the human resources and costs to meet these needs are limited. Welfare technology has been suggested as an effective way to solve the discrepancy between higher welfare needs and limited resources. This study aims to explore the current trends and challenges of using welfare technology related to elderly care through literature review. Practical ways to expand uses of welfare technology are also provided. In order to make effective and practical use of welfare technology, public awareness and education, the cooperation of related organizations, the expansion and utilization of Living Labs, and the development and adoption of welfare technology are required.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of debriefing using Lasater's Clinical Judgment Rubric to study nursing students' academic self-efficacy, clinical performance, and clinical judgment. The experiment group was subjected to debriefing by applying the Clinical Judgment Rubric, while general debriefing was applied to the control group. The results of the study are as follows: Clinical judgment scores were improved after debriefing for both groups, significantly higher for students in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in academic self-efficacy or clinical performance. In conclusion, the debriefing based on the Clinical Judgment Rubric used in this study proved to be effective in improving the clinical judgment of nursing students.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel method for developing expressive typography authoring tools with personal emotions. Our goal is to implement an interactive typography system that does not rely on any particular language and provides an easy, natural user interface and allows for immediate interaction. For this purpose, we converted the text data entered by a user to image data. The image data was then used for interaction with the user. The data was synchronized with the user's skeleton information obtained from the depth camera. We decomposed the characters using the formality of language to provide a typographical movement that responds more dynamically to the user's motion. Thus, this system provides interaction as a unit of characters rather than as a whole character, allowing the user to have emotional and aesthetic emotional immersion into his or her creation.
