Abstract

The modeling and animation of natural phenomena have received much attention from the computer graphics community. Synthetic of natural phenomena are required for such diverse applications as flight simulators, special effects, video games and other virtual realty. In special effects industry there is a high demand to convincingly mimic the appearance and behavior of natural phenomena such as smoke, waterfall, rain, and fire. Particle systems are methods adequate for modeling fuzzy objects of natural phenomena. This paper presents particle system API(Application Program Interfaces) for generating special effects in virtual reality applications. The API are a set of functions that allow C++ programs to simulate the dynamics of particles for special effects in interactive and non-interactive graphics applications, not for scientific simulation.

Abstract

The style of war in the <TEX>$21^{st}$</TEX> century became digitalized cooperative union tactic, which relies heavily on the system providing real time information. Critical information is provided during the war from sensing to shooting. Therefore, epochal development in observation, reconnaissance (ISR), commanding (C4I) and precision strike (PGM) are necessary. Application of ubiquitous computing and network technologies in national defense is necessary for carrying out with various types of wars in the <TEX>$21^{st}$</TEX> century. Therefore, the author wants to research core technology sector that can be developed and applied in preparation of ubiquitous national defense era. Also plans for applying recent u-Defense technology to the military sector had been suggested. Particularly, the author have suggested plans for utilizing combined future information technologies such as ad-hoc network, RFID for the logistic supply in construction of u-Defense system. By utilizing these information technologies, combat power and strategic capabilities of the military can be enhanced greatly.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a predictive resource metric region (RMR) based radio resource metric estimation (RRME) mechanism, which utilizes a resource metric mapping function (RMMF), both of which permit efficient inter-working between the physical layer and higher layers for envisaging multimedia service applications over a CDMA communication system platform. The RMR can provide the acceptable resource region where QoS and acceptable link quality can be guaranteed with an achievable resource margin to be utilized in terms of capacity margin, the degree of confidence (DCL) of user, second-order statistics of Eb/Io. With predicted capacity margin and variance, DCL can deliver decision parameters with which an adaptive QoS based admission control can perform well taking capacity and resource availability into account in a dynamic and predictive manner. Combined with advanced techniques such as adaptive modulation or rate control and power control, the proposed mechanism can adjust the conventional stringent link quality information efficiently, and deliver accurate information of the resource availability. Thus, these can guarantee the maximization of resource utilization of multimedia service applications.

Abstract

The work presented in this paper is divided into two parts. The first part presents finite urn problems which generate truncated negative binomial random variables. Some combinatorial identities that arose from the negative binomial sampling and truncated negative binomial sampling are established. These identities are constructed and serve important roles when we deal with these distributions and their characteristics. Other important results including cumulants and moments of the distributions are given in somewhat simple forms. Second, the distributions of the maximum of two chi-square variables and the distributions of the maximum correlated F-variables are then derived within the negative binomial sampling scheme. Although multinomial theory applied to order statistics and standard transformation techniques can be used to derive these distributions, the negative binomial sampling approach provides more information and deeper insight regarding the nature of the relationship between the sampling vehicle and the probability distributions of these functions of chi-square variables. We also provide an algorithm to compute the percentage points of these distributions. We supplement our findings with exact simple computational methods where no interpolations are involved.

Abstract

In this paper, we present personalization that of important research fields recently. As the interest of individual becomes more diverse, more and more digital contents become personalized. Personalization makes users more satisfied by helping them to use the contents effectively. We discuss the type and the substantial interface of personalization that provides satisfaction to user.

Abstract

Mobile Ad hoc network is a self configuring network of mobile nodes. It allows mobile nodes to configure network spontaneously and share their services. In these networks, service discovery is very important because all nodes do not have same resources in term of memory and computing power. Nodes need to use different services offered by different servers. Some service discovery protocols have been proposed in last couple of years but they include significant traffic overhead and for small scale MANETS. In this paper, we present extensible lookup service scheme based on distributed mechanism. In our scheme neighboring nodes of service provider monitor service provider and send notification to lookup server when the service provider terminates its services unexpectedly. Lookup server can find other service provider or other alternative services in advance because of advance notification method and can provide consistent lookup services. In our scheme neighboring nodes also monitor lookup server and send notification to network when lookup server terminates unexpectedly. Simulation results show that our scheme can reduce up to 70% and 30% lookup failure as compare to centralize and simple distributed mechanism respectively.

Abstract

<P>The abstract should summarize the content of the paper using Italic font. Try to keep the abstract between 100 and 150 words. Do not have references or displayed equations in the abstract. The Journals will be printed by photo-offset from the same sized copy prepared by you. Your article should be printed on 8.5&quot; X 11&quot; (21.6㎝ x 27.9㎝) paper, using a high quality laser printer. If you use A4 paper (21.㎝ x 29.7㎝), we will make a letter photocopy of it before sending it to the printing shop. Consequently, this may lower the printing quality of your paper. It is imperative that the margins and style described below be adhered to carefully. This will enable us to maintain uniformity in the final printed copies of the Journals. Please keep in mind that the paper you prepare will be photographed and printed as it is received.</P>
