Abstract

The emergence of cutting-edge media platforms enabling the rapid dissemination of messages in split seconds, coupled with the collaborative efforts of individuals or groups seeking political and economic gains, has led to the indiscriminate spread of fake news. This phenomenon, causing societal division and chaos, extends beyond the mere distortion of information, posing a serious threat to the safety of individuals and communities. Against this backdrop, this study seeks to examine effective strategies, guided by Jeungsan’s perspective, to overcome and prevent the harm caused by fake news. Initially, the study will provide a detailed description of the process through which fake news is generated and disseminated. Subsequently, it will delve into the harmful effects of fake news through specific cases, emphasizing Jeungsan’s discourse in The Canonical Scripture and the values of truth and human morality responsibility underscored in Daesoon Thought. This is expected to contribute to the prevention of potential victims through accurate news comprehension, thereby fostering community stability and advancing the pursuit of truth. While completely blocking the origin of fake news is nearly impossible, initiating efforts at the individual level, such as cultivating insight into news and being vigilant about the harm caused by fake news, can serve as an initial step. Strengthening ethics in the media through the enforcement of regulations and laws, thereby adhering to ethical standards as a public instrument, and imposing strict social responsibilities could present a viable solution. Ultimately, continuous reflection and spiritual growth through reasoning and cultivation may be the best approach to finding solutions.
