It is general for industrial body to adopt information system using ASP(application service provider) model according to the increase of management expense. the change of information system circumstance and the trend of application development cycle. ASP model is a variation on outsourcing system support and services. ASP maintains servers and software for different customers at a centralized location. The purpose of this study examined the feasibility to implement school digital library and information system using ASP model. Based upon the examination, this study is suggested information system of school digital library to aspects of H/W, S/W, components. functions.
The purpose of this study was to measure performance of university libraries, especially investigating the components of service quality and their relationship to the customer satisfaction. The result of the statistical analyses is summarized as follows： The result of 5 point scale study shows the following degree of satisfaction in 55 components： timeliness of circulation, processing of fine. location of library, usefulness of retrieval system, library user education, speed of retrieval. number of terminals, and cleaning. On the other hand, shows the following degree of dissatisfaction in 55 components： speed of civil petitions, hour for program use, result of civil petitions, fixing of library user education, speed of retrieval, method of public relation, waiting time for Internet use, and use of the other library materials. Also. customers’matters of weight and importance was availability. learning facilities, suitable collections, circulation, and system of retrieval.
This study aims to analyze the current policies and problems associated with the electronic records disclosure and to suggest the access paradigm for electronic records management. For this, Act on Disclosure of Information by Public Agencies. Public Records Management Act, and Electronic Government Act are analyzed in the light of public access to electronic records. The analysis lays special emphasis on the scope of public records to be disclosed, time to disclosure of public records. computer editing for pubic service. records dissemination through Internet, and the role of records centers and public libraries. Based upon the analysis, policy directions for electronic records management are suggested.
This study purpose to investigate the information needs of researcher necessary for portal service development in the science and technical library analyze the present status of information service and present the fundamental data. We collected the question survey targeted to member of science and technical library and the statistics data about information service and analyzed it for study method. The result of this study indicates that researchers in science field use mostly their library Web homepage for obtaining necessary information and use meta search service frequently And they consented the necessity of Academic information co-ownership activity and intended to join this activity.
The library information service which uses a web is active. But users feel difficulty to use library homepage's content, because many content are accumulated in the library homepage very rapidly. So users want to be customized and personalized the various content which it provides from library home page. The MyLibrary is founded in customization and personalization of library's content. This MyLibrary is suitable for large library. But the MyLibrary can be used as the tool for digital reference service.
This study focuses on the user centered interface design of an information retrieval system. Users do not tend to take advantage of powerful retrieval functions of an information retrieval system unless its interface is user friendly and easy to use. The actual interface design case of the ELSA information retrieval system is reviewed in terms of design concepts and its applicable concrete designs for constructing an user centered interface.
The purpose of this study is to explore the ways to improve public library community information services in the Internet environment. It first examines the concepts and current contexts of community information flow, illustrates successful cases of public library community information services, and then, suggests public libraries provide gateways to the community information on the Internet. The needs for research to guide public library community information services and continuing education for public librarians are also presented.
The Purpose of this study is to point out some attributes of intrinsic and social background and status attainment process and a life-style of public library directors in KOREA. The data obtained from 188 respondents in 1999 were used for analysis. Some of the main findings are as follows： <TEX>$\circled1$</TEX> The majority of the directors has a career as a teacher or local public administrators rather than a librarian. <TEX>$\circled2$</TEX> The birth places of the directors are scattered all over the country. and those who were born in rural area account for about of all respondents. In rural area. it might be difficult for them to access information on newly developing profession like librarianship. <TEX>$\circled3$</TEX> Although the educational level of directors themselves is higher than general public. <TEX>$\circled4$</TEX> Library schools which give students high grade knowledge and training of library and information science are not so many, and hence directors are primarily local public administrators rather than qualified librarians. <TEX>$\circled5$</TEX> Many directors did not aspire to become librarians. rather they got the post after they had been working as a teachers or lawyer, local public administrators. <TEX>$\circled6$</TEX> If the library services of better quality are provided all over the country, urban or rural, and library schools in higher education are developed and have much more satisfactory substance, and abler library directors. And then we can expect that the qualified librarians's director system in public libraries will become an accomplished fact.
