Purpose: This study analyzes the impact of weather conditions, holidays, and sporting events on beer sales, providing insights for market strategy and inventory management in the beer industry. Research design, data and methodology: Beer types were classified into Lagers and Ales, with furthersubcategories. The study utilized weekly retail sales data from January 2018 to August 2020, provided by Nielsen Korea. An ARMAX model was employed for time-series analysis. Results: The analysis revealed that increasing temperatures positively influence sales of Pilsners and Pale Lagers. Conversely, higher precipitation levels negatively affect overall Lager sales. Among Ales, only Stout sales showed a significant decrease with increased rainfall. Sunshine duration did not significantly impact sales for any beer type. Humidity generally had little effect on beer sales, with the exception of Amber Lagers, which showed sensitivity to humidity changes. Holidays and sporting events were found to significantly boost sales across most beer types, although the specific impacts varied by beer category. Conclusions: This study offers a detailed analysis of how weather conditions and specific eventsinfluence different beer type sales. The findings provide valuable insights for breweries, beer processors, and retailersto optimize their market strategies and inventory management based on weather forecasts and seasonal events. By understanding the consumption patterns of each beer type in relation to environmental factors, businesses can better anticipate demand fluctuations and tailor their operations accordingly
Purpose: This study explores the potential use of food e-labels for restaurants to solve the current inadequacies in food labeling within the restaurant sector. Additionally, the study examines the feasibility and scalability of implementing e-labels for food labeling purposes, investigates consumers’ perceptions of e-labels for restaurant offerings, and assesses the value of implementing e-labels. Research design, data and methodology: The value of food e-labels was estimated using the contingent valuation method. Samples were selected from the survey, considering the distribution of population, using stratified sampling method. In the survey, respondents were provided with information explaining the food e-label and were asked whether they would accept the proposed amount for food e-labeling. Results: Estimation resultsrevealed that the individual demographic factors of the respondentssignificantly influenced their willingness to pay (WTP), along with their food purchasing behavior and the degree of food labeling checking. Based on the estimated results, WTP was calculated to be 2,624 KRW. Conclusions: The study findings can serve as a reference for related businesses and policies, suggesting the need for further research and detailed discussions. To activate food e-labeling, promotion and education are essential complements to mere regulatory implementation
Purpose: The study focuses on the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), trade openness, and energy consumption on carbon dioxide emissions in the Ivory Coast. It aims to quantitatively evaluate the effects of FDI, energy consumption, and trade openness on CO2 emissions in Ivory Coast. Research design, data, and methodology: The research uses an econometric framework and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to analyze time-series data from 1980 to 2021 between these factors. Results: The analysis revealed that FDI significantly impacts the carbon dioxide emissions, FDI showed a negative impact on carbon emissions in the long-run equilibrium term. Also, energy consumption impacted CO2 emissions in the long-run equilibrium term. Conclusion: To mitigate the upsurge of CO2 emissionsin the Ivorian context, concrete policy, including enactment and adherence to strict environmental regulations, adoption and prioritization of eco-friendly products and technologies, and investment in renewable energy infrastructure are recommended. The study contributesto the global discussion on sustainable development by offering a model forsimilar assessments in other emerging nations facing simultaneous economic growth and environmental conservation challenges.
The agricultural policy of Kim Jong-un's regime inherits the economic reform policy of the Kim Jong-Il period, which expands the autonomy of production and allows the market to dispose of products. The formation of markets represents an important factor in the business environment, as it indicates the establishment of fundamental conditions for management. However, major crops are still mainly managed by the state, and the government implements agricultural policies, such as emphasizing "Juche Farming." This study analyzed the impact of transition economic policies during the Kim Jong-un period on agricultural production using variability. Production variabilities increased for minor grain crops compared to previous years, but those of major grain (rice and maize) and horticultural crops did not change significantly. Even the production quantity of horticultural crops decreased, which is different from previous predicts that the expansion of the North Korean market would increase the consumption power of North Koreans and promote horticultural crop production. This study underscores the imperative for North Korea to develop policies aimed at stabilizing crop yields in the face of production variability. It proposes the establishment of an agricultural early warning system as a feasible solution to enhance agricultural infrastructure and promote inter-Korean cooperation.
