The sincerity, the first of the Three Essential Attitudes, has been studies many times in and out of Daesoon Jinrihoe to understand the concept. A majority of the researches have quoted the verses in The Canonical Scripture, The Guiding Compass of Daesoon, and Essentials of Daesoon Jinrihoe according to each research topic and used them for the fundamentals of claim. However, sincerity mentioned in Essentials of Daesoon Jinrihoe has not been studied as a single research topic. That is, the concept which Wudang ananlyzed in Essentials of Daesoon Jinrihoe is used as a basis of each argument in the existing articles, but documentary researches on the structure or meaning of sincerity are not sufficient. Therefore, in this study, we will try to understand sincerity not from the conventional point of view but based on Essentials of Daesoon Jinrihoe which Wudang proofread. Although sincerity in Essentials of Daesoon Jinrihoe mentions the sincerity of the Dao and the ego in the borderline between ‘self’ and the Dao, they are primarily a single entity without differentiating each other. Therefore, as a human, one should realize the Dao and respect the heavenly reason. In addition, one should conform to it and embody the Dao. The sincerity as a basis for cultivation focuses ‘becoming sincere.’ Wudang brought the enlightenment and purpose, premises, and principle about becoming sincere to light. He also revealed the specific method to practice.
