Abstract

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of extract from Jak-Yak Tang (JYT) on the THP-1 cell and HMC-1 cell. Method : To evaluate of anti-inflammatory of JYT, we examined cytokines production in lipopolysacchride (LPS)-induced THP-1 cell and A23187, PMA-induced HMC-1 cell. Result : Extract of JYT inhibit LPS-induced interleukin (IL)-8 production in human monocyte THP-1 cells. Extract of JYT inhibit A23187, PMA-induced IL-8, tumor necrosis factor-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX> (INF-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX>) production in HMC-1 cells. Conclusion : NT down-regulated LPS-induced IL-8 production and A23187, PMA-induced IL-8, TNF-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX> production, which may be provide a clinical basis for anti-inflammatory properities of JYT.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of extract from Hwang lyun tang (HLT) on the THP-1 cell and HMC-1 cell. To evaluate of anti-inflammatory of HLT, we examined cytokines production in lipopolysacchride (LPS)-induced THP-1 cell and A23187, PMA-induced HMC-1 cell. Extract of HLT inhibit LPS-induced interleukin (IL)-8 production in human monocyte THP-1 cells. Extract of HLT inhibit A23187, PMA-induced IL-8, tumor necrosis factor-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX> (INF-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX>) production in HMC-1 cells. HLT down-regulated LPS-induced IL-8 production and A23187, PMA-induced IL-8, TNF-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX> production, which may be provide a clinical basis for anti-inflammatory properities of HLT.

Abstract

Polygoni cuspidati Rhizoma (PCRH) has been used in treatment of menoxenia, skin burn, gallstone, hepatitis, hyperlipidaemia, favus athlete's foot, supperative dermatitis and inflammation. However, its effect in experimental models remains unknown. In this present study, the effect of PCRH for stability on mast cell was analyzed. Two g/kg PCRH inhibited the compound 48/80-induced anaphylaxis by 75%. In addition, PCRH inhibited the tumor necrosis factor-<TEX>$\alpha$</TEX> and interleukin-8 secretion as compared with the phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate plus calcium ionophore A23187 stimulated human mast cell line, HMC-1 cells. These results suggested PCRH may inhibit mast cell-mediated anaphylactic reaction.

Abstract

Consumers have been requiring more higher level of food and agricultural products safety. The system of Good Agricultural Practice(GAP) has been spreaded over the world. Korea also introduced the GAP system in agricultural industry. GAP is related to the production side in the whole traceability system. The establishment of GAP system is a prerequisite to secure food safety. This study reviewed the concept of GAP and necessities and backgrounds of introducing the GAP system. Also, this study analyzed the problems which have been appeared in the GAP program and proposed the policy strategies and directions for the Korean GAP system. So issues for the GAP system are as follows; computerizing of traceability system, forming the cooperative works among the related governmental departments, establishing a certification system to relate with crop features, efficient management, ensuring distribution channel and the research for estimating GAP consumer surplus is need to analyze GAP program more efficient. In addition, It is necessary to keep the records of the data to analyze the GAP program more accurately.

Abstract

Good Laboratory Practice(GLP) is becoming more and more important in the research and development of Oriental Pharmacy(OP) and its globalization. If a OP product is to be registered as Over-the-Counter(OTC) drug and enter international markets, the safety and efficacy studies conducted according to GLP requirements is necessary. The article introduces the content of GLP requirements and the recent development of GLP. The safety and efficacy assessment for OP or herbal medicines under GLP are also covered. This paper also briefly describes the areas that should be covered by GLP regulation and the areas that do not need to follow GLP requirements.
