Abstract

This study did to get metal concentration change following process steps in Crude, waste after boiling and decoction of herbal drugs in Korea. We measured metal concentration of three steps including Crude, waste after boiling, and decoction from 20 samples patients who visited oriental medical clinic for treat of several diseases through normal action. That result did as like below, first, in the study to acknowledge quality control between in Korea Lab and Harvard Lab in USA from 20 same samples, that result got the same values. So we conformed precision of measurement result in between two Lab. Second, hazardous metal mean concentration in Crude, waste after boiling, and decoction of herbal drugs by follow respectively, it was 32.5㎍/22.1㎍/8.8㎍ in As, 0.0㎍/0.0㎍/0.0㎍ in Cd, 1.0㎍/0.0㎍/0.0㎍ in Hg and 5416.3㎍/3639.6㎍/1002.6㎍ in Pb. These metal concentration decrease 72.9-100.0% compare to crude status. It was also trend the same in the other essential elements. To review these result, we could know intake by decoction method for the purpose the least metal exposure from herbal drugs among the several steps.
