Editorial Policy

Instruction for Authors

Article 3. (Frequency and Timing of Publication)

This journal is published twice a year.

The publication dates of this journal shall be February 25 and August 25 of each year, but may be adjusted according to the decision of the editorial board. 

The deadline for submitting articles to this journal shall be two months prior to the publication date, by December 25 and June 25.  

Articles are accepted throughout the year, and articles submitted after the deadline will automatically be considered for publication in the next issue. 

The date of submission (acceptance), review (revision), and confirmation of publication shall be specified at the end of the article.

 


Article 4. (Eligibility for Submission)

The qualifications for submitting articles to the journal 'Trans-' are as follows.

In principle, submissions are limited to those who are enrolled in a master's program in film, video, media, culture and art, or convergence-related fields, or who have worked in related fields for more than three years.

Majors in other fields are also eligible to contribute to the journal as determined by the editorial board if they have achievements in accordance with paragraph 1 that are consistent with the purpose of the institute and can contribute to the development of the journal.

The number of articles per issue shall be limited to one per person.

If the contributor's nationality is foreign, the manuscript may be classified as a special manuscript.

The article submission eligibility rules shall also apply to each of the two or more co-authors.

 


Article 5. (Contributor's compliance with research ethics regulations)

Contributors must be familiar with and comply with the research ethics regulations of the Transmedia Research Institute, and if it is determined that they have violated them, the editorial board may impose sanctions in accordance with the research ethics regulations.



Article 6. (Thesis)

The topics of articles that can be submitted to this journal 'Trans-' are as follows.

Submissions shall be limited to research papers in areas related to theoretical, technological, industrial, and policy studies related to the field of film, video, media, culture, and art convergence.

Papers with special purposes that do not meet the requirements of Paragraph 1 of this Article, records of academic activities, etc. will be decided after discussion by the editorial board.

 


Article 7. (Unacceptable Articles)

The types of manuscripts that cannot be published in Trans- are as follows. The editorial board may restrict the submission of a manuscript before the review process if it falls under any of the following items.

Articles that do not fit into the thematic areas of this journal.

Articles that are similar to articles that have already been published.

Simple translations of foreign books, papers, or journals

Simply abbreviated master's or doctoral theses

Submitting a paper that has been rejected in a previous journal review without modifying the title or content.

If an abnormality is unavoidably confirmed after publication is confirmed, the editorial board may revoke the contributor's eligibility to submit a paper for the next five years.

 


Article 8 (Submission Method)

A contributor may submit an article before the manuscript deadline in the following ways.

 1. Log in to the online submission system as an author and submit, and the following two files must be uploaded at the time of submission. For blind review, the title and content of the file must not contain any information that could identify the author.

  Manuscript - HWP file and PDF file of the paper edited according to the specified format. 

  Supplemental Materials - confirmation of the results of the KCI literature similarity check. 

 2. Articles that have passed the manuscript deadline will be considered for submission in the next issue.

 3. Authors who receive 'revised and published' or 'revised and reconsidered' after the first review must submit a response summarizing their comments and revisions on the review results and a revised version of the unmarked manuscript within the specified deadline. There is no prescribed format for the review response, but it should include responses to all of the reviewers' points. The response to reviewers' comments and the paper revision should not contain any identifying information about the authors and should be attached as a PDF file.

 4. Authors who receive a final "Accepted for publication" must submit the final version of the article (HWP and PDF files), a copyright transfer agreement, and a confirmation of the results of the literature similarity check on the final version, stating their name and affiliation, within the specified deadline. 



Article 9. (Writing Standards)

Contributors should write their papers according to the following writing guidelines.

In principle, papers should be written in 10 to 20 sheets (including abstract, text, figures, and footnotes) based on the 'Trans-' paper editing method (Article 10) using a program of NAVER Hangul 2007 or higher. The total number of papers should not exceed 30. 

If there are more than two authors, the main author (first author) and the sub-authors (corresponding author, participating author, etc.) should be distinguished, and the main author should be listed first, and the sub-authors should be listed after the second.

The text should be written in either Korean or English.

All manuscripts should include an abstract in Korean and English of about 1 A4 sheet and 5 key words in Korean and English. 

  


Article 11 (Review of Submitted Articles)

Submitted papers will be reviewed in accordance with the article review process of the Institute. However, papers planned and commissioned by the editorial board shall be given priority for publication, but shall undergo the same review process as general papers.



Article 12 (Revision of Articles)

 1. The editorial board may request the contributor to revise the article based on the review results, and if there is no reply from the author within two weeks after the request for revision, the publication of the article in the issue is deemed to be abandoned.

 2. The editorial board may arbitrarily change the format of an article that has passed the review process based on the editorial regulations.


 

Article 13 (Article Responsibility)

The final responsibility for the content of the published article shall be borne by the author of the article. 



Article 14 (Review Fee and Publication Fee)

Contributors shall pay the review fee for their articles upon submission. 

 1. The review fee for submitted papers shall be 60,000 won. The review fee is the same for both general and research support papers.

 2. If the manuscript is confirmed to be published after the review, the publication fee must be paid. The publication fee is 200,000 won, and an additional 100,000 won must be paid when including private notations. 

 3. If the length of the manuscript exceeds the standard of the "Trans-" manuscript editing form (see Article 10), a predetermined additional publication fee may be charged.

 4. Even if the contributor requests a 'retraction' of the article, if the article is 'confirmed for publication' after review, the contributor must pay the applicable publication fee regardless of the 'retraction'.

 5. In the case of articles written by foreign contributors, the review fee and publication fee shall be charged after a separate meeting of the editorial board.

 6. Publication fees and review fees may be suspended for a certain period of time by the decision of the management committee of the Institute and the editorial board of the journal. 




Article 15 (Copyright)

'trans-' is an Open Access journal and follows the following copyright policy. 

 1. Copyright Policy: The copyright of published articles belongs to the Transmedia Research Center. Authors must submit a copyright transfer agreement with the final version of the article to be published to the Transmedia Research Center after acceptance for publication.

 2. Full text access policy: The full text of the published article will be made publicly available through the Transmedia Research Center website and the archive of the paper review and submission system.

 3. Reuse policy: Published articles may be used under the Creative Commons license (CCL) type 'Attribution-NonCommercial CC BY-NC)'.

 4. Self-archiving policy: Authors may archive their articles on their own websites or institutional repositories after review. However, it must be clearly stated that it is a (planned) publication in a 'trans-' journal.




Article 16 (Miscellaneous)

Any matters not covered in these detailed regulations shall be reviewed and decided by the Editorial Board on a case-by-case basis.
