An Integrative Coaching Model of Development: The Implications for Research and Professional Training in Coaching Psychology

Abstract

An integrative coaching psychology model of development is suggested as the foundation for the research and professional training in coaching psychology. This model is a psychology based coaching model which is developed on the basis of the multiple psychological perspectives and related theories, in order to understand the principles and mechanisms of coaching practices and improve the effectiveness of coaching. It consists of the key elements that help the coachees to improve their self-awareness and self-directedness toward goals they want: developmental perspectives, wholistic perspectives, improving self-directedness, promoting for changes, and establishing the foundation for continuous growth. And it is expected that this model may give a way to make many different coaching approaches and skills combined systematically. In addition, the implications for research and professional training in coaching psychology are discussed.
