본 연구의 목적은 병리적 자기애(Pathological Narcissism)의 표현형인 자기애적 웅대성(Narcissistic Grandiosity), 자기애적 취약성(Narcissistic Vulnerability)과 자존감, 부정적 사건에 대한 귀인양식의 관계를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 213명의 대학생을 대상으로 병리적 자기애 척도(PNI), 로젠버그 자존감 척도(RSES), 자존감 안정성 척도(SSS), 귀인양식 질문지(ASQ)를 실시함으로써 병리적 자기애, 자존감, 부정적 사건에 대한 귀인양식 간의 관계를 살펴보았다. 상관분석 결과, 자기애적 웅대성은 자존감 수준과 유의한 정적 상관, 자존감 안정성과 유의한 부적 상관을 나타낸 반면, 자기애적 취약성은 자존감 수준 및 안정성과 유의한 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 또한 자기애적 취약성은 부정적 사건에 대한 안정적, 전반적 귀인과 유의한 정적 상관을 나타냈다. 매개분석 결과, 자기애적 취약성이 자존감 수준에 미치는 영향에서 부정적 사건에 대한 안정적, 전반적 귀인이 부분매개효과를 나타냈다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship among narcissistic phenotypes of Pathological Narcissism(PN), Self-Esteem(SE), and attributional styles on negative events. A total 213 university students participated in this study by responding to the following questionnaires: Pathological Narcissism Inventory(PNI), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale(RSES), Self-esteem Stability Scale(SSS), and Attributional Style Questionnaire(ASQ). The study results were follows. First, narcissistic grandiosity was positively correlated with SE level and negatively with SE stability, while narcissistic vulnerability was negatively correlated with both. Second, only narcissistic vulnerability was positively correlated with stable and general attributional styles on negative events. Last, stable and general attributional styles on negative events partly mediated the relationship between narcissistic vulnerability and SE level. This study contributes to further understand the relationship among phenotypes of PN, SE, and attributional styles on negative events. Some limitations of the present study and suggestions for future studies are also discussed.
