Users usually search for the required information via search engines which contain locations of the information. However, as the amount of data gets large, the result of the search is often not the information that users actually want. In this paper a web guide is proposed in order to resolve this problem. The web guide uses case-based learning method which stores and utilizes cases based on the keywords of user’s action and agent’s visit. The proposed agent system learns the user’s visiting actions following the input the data to be searched, and then helps rapid searches of data wanted.

The concept based retrieval model has shown a higher performance than those of the simple matching function method or the P-norm retrieval method introduced to compensate the demerits of the Boolean retrieval model. However. it takes too long to create a semantic-net knowledge base, which is essential in concept exploration. In order to solve such demerits. a method was sought out by creating a distributed knowledge base by subjects to reduce construction time without hindering the performance of retrieval.
The purpose of this use study is to evaluate foreign science and technology serials with reference to the result of interlibrary loan activity and to present the model of cooperative acquisition. This study was based upon an analysis of actual use data by library users and interlibrary loan from March 1, 2000 to February 28, 2001. 603 titles of foreign serials which were composed of 459 subscription titles of E University Library and 144 cooperative acquisition titles in the fields of science and technology were analyzed. The study reveals that only 439 serials(72.8%) were used even more once and 164 serials were not used at all during 1 year interval. A relationship was found between rankings of serials as measured by use and JCR citation ranking. Based upon various aspects of use analysis, this study suggested effective techniques for managing academic serials.

The objective of this study was not only to evaluate different academic library homepages but to hit upon and suggest a reformation plan for their future improvement. For this purpose. academic library web pages of Korea were divided into three major groups -- those of national universities, private ones, and junior colleges. Their web pages were evaluated using a number of criteria. Also, their circumstances and problems were tried to grasp and the methods to be corrected were suggested in this thesis. Literature review were performed for this study and suggestions and advices from professional groups that is called Delphi method were used as a tool to achieve the objective of this study. For a basic analysis, frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were used for analysing data. Also, t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square analysis were used to examine whether there are any significant differences in each groups or not. and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were used to find out the correlation among several variables.
