산소-질소계를 포함하는 여러 자리 시프염기 리간드인 비스-살리실알데히드-에틸렌디아민(SED), 비스-살리실알데히드-프로필렌디아민(SPD), 비스-살리실알데히드-디에틸렌트리아민(SDT) 및 비스-살리실알데히드-트리에틸렌테트라아민(STT)들과 니켈(II) 착물을 합성하여 원소분석법, 적외선분광법, 자외-가시흡광분광법 및 질량분석법을 이용하여 확인하였다. 이들 리간드를 70% 디옥산-30% 물 혼합 용매 및 에탄올 용매에서 전위차법으로 니켈(II)-시프염기 착물들의 안정도상수값을 각각 구하였다. 안정도상수값의 크기는 Ni(II)-SPD<Ni(II)-SED<Ni(II)-SDT<Ni(II)-STT의 순서로 주개 원자수에 따라 증가하였다. 순환 전압-전류법에서 얻은 착물들의 환원전위값은 Ni(II)-SPD<Ni(II)-SED<Ni(II)-SDT<Ni(II)-STT 순서로 증가하며, 이 때 Ni(II)-시프염기 착물의 산화-환원반응은 일전자반응이다.
A series of Ni(II) complexes with multidentate N, O-Schiff base ligands: ie [bis-(salicylaldehyde) ethylenediamine(SED), bis-(salicylaldehyde) propylenediamine(SPD), bis-(salicylaldehyde) dietrylenetriamine(SDT), and bis-(salicylaldehyde) triethylenetetraamine(STT)] and Ni(II) complexes were synthesized. The Ni(II) complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis and mass spectrometry. The stability constants of each nickel (II) complexes were determined by potentiometry in 70% dioxane-30% <TEX>$H_2O$</TEX> and ethanol. The stability constants of Nickel(II) complexs increased in the order of Ni(II)-SPD<Ni(II)-SED<Ni(II)-SDT<Ni(II)-STT and with increasing the number of donor atoms employed. Reduction potentials obtained from cyclovoltalogram increased in the order of Ni(II)-SPD<Ni(II)-SED<Ni(II)-SDT<Ni(II)-STT. Oxidation-reduction of the Ni(II) complexes was dominated by one-electron reaction.
