해야 할 일을 불필요하게 미루는 행위인 지연행동은 지난 30년 간 활발히 연구되어 왔으나, 타당도와 신뢰도가 충분히 검증된 지연행동의 측정도구는 소수에 불과하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 목표 관련 이론인 Gollwitzer(1990)의 행동 단계 모델을 기반으로 지연행동 단계 척도를 개발하여 선행 연구의 한계를 보완하고자 하였다. 연구 1에서는 계획 단계, 착수 단계, 지속 단계, 완수 단계 그리고 결과 평가 단계 각각에서 나타날 수 있는 지연행동의 양상을 측정할 수 있도록, 기존 자기보고식 척도들을 참고하고 보완하여 PPQ의 예비문항을 구성하였다. 각 지연행동 단계에 대해 탐색적 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 계획 지연 소척도는 계획 곤란 및 계획 회피 요인, 착수 지연 소척도는 단일 요인, 지속 지연 소척도는 지속 중단 및 지속 곤란 요인, 완수 지연 소척도는 완결 곤란과 기한 준수 곤란 요인, 끝으로 결과 평가 소척도는 후회 및 문제의식, 결과에 대한 불만족 및 무기력 요인으로 구성되어 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구 2에서는 PPQ의 내적 합치도, 3주 간격 검사-재검사 신뢰도가 양호한 수준임을 검증하였으며, Aitken 지연행동 척도, 학업적 착수-완수지연 척도, 한국판 단축형 자기통제 척도, 목표중심 자기조절 척도와의 상관분석을 통해 수렴타당도와 공존타당도 또한 적절함을 확인하였다. 아울러 확인적 요인분석을 실시함으로써 각 소척도의 모형 적합도와 모든 소척도를 통합한 모형의 적합도를 검증하였다.
The purpose of the present study was to create a valid, reliable, and comprehensive measure of procrastination based on the Model of Action Phases(Gollwitzer, 1990). In Study 1, preliminary version of the Procrastination Phase Questionnaire(PPQ) was constructed and Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) was conducted to determine the underlying factors of each procrastination phase. Consequently, the planning phase was composed of two facors and the initiation phase was consisted of a single factor. Also, EFA produced 2 factors for the action sustainment phase and completion phase, and three factors for the evaluation phase. In Study 2, PPQ demonstrated adequate level of internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Convergent and concurrent validities were verified through correlation analysis among PPQ, Aitken Procrastination Inventory, Academic Initiation-Completion Procrastination Scale, Brief Self-Control Scale, and Goal Focused Self-Regulation Scale. Factor structure of each procrastination phase was confirmed through Confirmatory Factor Analysis.
