Radiation Doses and Quality Assurance in Cone Beam CT(CBCT)

Abstract

치과의사에게 영상학적 정보는 질환의 범위와 진행정도를 평가하고 치료계획의 수립에 있어 판단의 증거가 되며 질환의 경과를 추적 관찰할 뿐만 아니라 치료의 효과와 질환의 예후를 평가하고 결정하는 데 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 특히 악안면영역의 경조직 질환을 주로 다루는 치과의사에게 있어 방사선학적 검사를기반으로 한 영상정보는 진단체계를 확립하는데 필수적인 사항이라 하겠다. 특히 치과임상에서 방사선학적 검사의 사용은 소아 및 청소년기의 환자들에게 다른 영역의 방사선 검사보다 조기에 적용되며 넓게 사용되는 진단 도구로서 그 중요성이 인정된다. 기존의 치과임상에서 일반방사선영상을 기반으로한 진단체계와 더불어 최근 십여년간 새로운 영상기법인 콘빔형전산화단층영상(Cone Beam ComputedTomography, CBCT)의 도입과 임상적 적용은 치과의 진단체계에 새로운 패러다임으로 다가왔다. 기존의 일반방사선영상의 정보를 보충하며 새로운 해부학적 정보를 제공하는 중요한 수단이 되고 있다. CBCT 영상은 구강악안면영역의 삼차원적 위치 및구조에 대한 정보를 제공하고, 다양한 분야의 임상영역의 요구가 증가함에 따라 지속적으로 그 사용빈도와유용성이 증가되고 있다. 그 이유로는 일반전산화단층영상(conventional Computed Tomography,CT)와 비교하여 장비의 규모가 적어지고 경제적으로적은 비용을 발생시키며, 낮은 선량으로 검사가 이뤄진다는 장점을 갖고 있음을 들 수 있다
