본 연구에서는 남해안 개조개의 자원생태학적 특성치인 생잔율(S=0.5174), 순간자연사망계수(M=0.2012/년) 및 순간어획사망계수(F=0.4578/년), 어획개시연령(tc=2.7506세), 자원량(B=8.362톤)을 추정하였다. 갯장어 자원을 가입당생산량모델에 적용시킨 결과, 현재의 순간어획사망계수(F=0.4578/년), 어획개시연령(tc=2.7506세)에서의 가입당생산량은 80.89g으로 추정되었다. 따라서 현재의 순간어획사망계수(F)를 그대로 유지한다면 어획개시연령(tc)을 4세 이상으로 높여야 하고, 현재의 어획개시연령(tc)을 유지한다면 순간어획사망계수(F)를 0.2 보다 낮은 수준으로 낮추어야한다. F0.1의 경우, 2세에서 65.69g으로 가장 높은 가입당생산량을 나타내고 있다. 또한 가입당산란자원량모델을 이용하여 생물학적 관리기준인 F40%의 값을 현재의 어획상태를 고려하여 추정하였다.
Population ecological parameters, including survival rate, instantaneous coefficient of nature and fishing mortalities, and age at first capture, and stock assessment of the purplish Washington clam, Saxidomus purpuratus (Sowerby) in the southern coastal waters of Korea were determined, based on fishery data from the Divers Fisheries Cooperatives and available biological data. Annual survival rate (S) was determined to be 0.5174, and the estimated instantaneous coefficients of Fishing mortality (F) was 0.4578/year. From the estimates of S and F, the instantaneous coefficients of nature mortality (M) was calculated as 0.2012/year. The age at first capture (tc) was estimated as 2.7506 year. An yield-per-recruit analysis showed that the current yield per recruit of 80.89g with F=0.4578/year, where the age at first capture (tc) is 2.7506. This age at first capture corresponded to the optimal length which was obtained from the F0.1 method. Yield- per-recruit and spawning biomass-per-recruit were estimated under various harvest strategies based on Fmax, F0.1, F30%, F35% and F40%. And also the acceptable biological catch (ABC) was estimated to about 1,230 mt.
