Abstract

A new open-chain ligand containing two phenol groups, 1, 14-Bis (2-hydroxybenzyl)-2, 6, 9, 12-tetraazatetradecane(bsated) was synthesized as its tetrahydrochloride salt and characterized by elemental analysis, mass, infrared and NMR. Its proton dissociation constants (<TEX>$logK^n{_H}$</TEX>) and stability constants (<TEX>$logK_{ML}$</TEX>) toward <TEX>$Co^{2+}$</TEX>, <TEX>$Ni^{2+}$</TEX>, <TEX>$Cu^{2+}$</TEX> and <TEX>$Zn^{2+}$</TEX> were determined at <TEX>$25^{\circ}C$</TEX> and 0.10M(<TEX>$KNO_3$</TEX>) ionic strength in aqueous solution by potentiometry. The X-ray structure of its copper (II) complex [Cu(bsated)]<TEX>$(ClO_4)_2$</TEX> was reported: Monoclinic space group <TEX>$P2_1/n$</TEX>, <TEX>$a
