Abstract

The mineralogical properties of natural zeolite comixed with montmorillonite were investigated by the chemical composition analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. The experimental results on the removal of heavy metal ions by using the natural sample are summerized as follows. The removal of the heavy metal in solution is greatly influenced by the pH. Also, the removal capacity of heavy metal ions by zeolite and montmorillonite have increased in order of <TEX>$Cu^{2+}</TEX><TEX>></TEX><TEX>Cd^{2+}</TEX><TEX>></TEX><TEX>Ni^{2+}$</TEX>.
