Abstract

Purpose: This study established the state of the utilisation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in Zimbabwean urban district councils to manage municipal knowledge. The way municipal knowledge and service delivery information are managed influences the usefulness and accessibility of the information to the various stakeholders. The effective management of this information thus determines the quality of decisions made by Zimbabwean urban councils. Research design, data and methodology: The study adopted a single case study design, employing a purely qualitative research approach. The purposive sampling technique was used to select key informants who participated in the study. Collected data were analysed using thematic content analysis. Results: The findings revealed that the Masvingo City Council was not fully utilising ICTs to manage service delivery knowledge. It has been at a minimum level in cases where they have been used. Conclusions: This research contributes to the Zimbabwean local government body of knowledge, providing the evidence needed to form a basis for future research, focusing on knowledge management and information technology utilisation in municipal organisations. The researchers recommended that Masvingo City Council direct more resources towards improving the existing ICT infrastructure and employee training programmes to improve the management of the organisation's knowledge.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze factors affected by the ICT utilization with perspectives of employees (Study 1) and customers (Study 2) that are rarely approached in previous studies. In particular, this study examined how proposed factors on ICT utilization affect employee satisfaction, organization performance, customer satisfaction, and purchasing decision making. Research design, data and methodology: This study conducted an online survey to measure the effects. Cronbach's alpha was applied to test reliability and factor analysis was applied to check validity. Multiple regression analysis and ANOVA were applied to test hypotheses. Results: The results of this study found that the effects of self-development and organizational innovation on employee satisfaction were significant for study 1, while the effects of product satisfaction, promotional offers, and customer communication on purchase decision making were significant for study 2. Conclusions:This study provides managerial and policy implications. At the management level, it is necessary to make specific strategies to improve employee and customer satisfaction and organization performance associated with the utilization of ICT. The results of this study suggest that better policy should be prepared by government to foster utilization of ICT infrastructure and to enhance better relationships with employees and customers.

Abstract

Purpose: To examine the strength of social capital (SC) that are likely to affect Created share value (CSV) factors. This research aims to conduct a literature review to establish the components of SC and CSV identified within educational research and use factor analysis to identify how numerical values differ from the average and the amount of variance expressed in eigenvalue and factor score. Research design, data and methodology: To achieve the purpose of the study and provide adequate empirical results, we conducted the structural equation analysis using IBM AMOS 24.0 and collect online questionnaires from top practitioners, managers and non-managerial employees in Korean education firms, which will be used to conduct a factor analysis to assess SC's effect on CSV. Results: Final analysis of the path coefficient of the research model indicated that the SC values based on six have a significantly positive (+) effect on CSV values based on three categories (&#x03B2;=.35, p<.001). Therefore, the current research accepts the hypothesis in determining that SC can enhance the impact of CSV in educational companies. Conclusions: From the study, the practitioners of education companies should make more efforts to find action plans to create corporate social responsibility and shared value, which are required throughout society.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper examines whether or not universal banking operating in the asset management business tend to IPO underpricing when they are hosting IPOs in favor of their private interests. Previous studies suggest evidence which indicates that the universal banking operating in the asset management business tend to underestimate offering prices. This paper compares and analyzes the data before and after June 2007 to examine the influence of put-back option on IPO underpricing. Research design, data, and methodology: This paper compares the underwritten prices of IPOs of universal banking with and without asset management business in Korea in order to test such tendency actually exists. Result: We can find that such tendency is not correlated with first-day stock returns but correlated with put-back options. Our paper concludes that the hypothesis that "the universal banking's subsidiary asset management business influences the IPO underpricing" is found to be statistically insignificant. Conclusion: According to our analysis, it cannot be concluded that the interests of operating asset management do not conflict with the ones of underwriting business. However, it is so possible that the asset management companies try to harm the customers' interests, for instances churning and stuffing, it is necessary to scrutinize their behaviors and review the related regulations.
