Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the impact of YouTube mukbang content characteristics on viewer satisfaction and word-of-mouth behavior. Drawing from theories in media psychology, consumer behavior, and communication studies, we investigate five key content characteristics: credibility, entertainment value, informativeness, visual appeal, and auditory quality. Research design, data and methodology: Using structural equation modeling with data from 206 mukbang viewers, we test hypothesized relationships between these characteristics, viewer satisfaction, and word-of-mouth behavior. Results: Research reveal that credibility and informativeness significantly and positively influence viewer satisfaction, while entertainment value, visual appeal, and auditory quality show no significant effect. Viewer satisfaction positively impacts word-of-mouth behavior. These findings challenge conventional assumptions about video content consumption and highlight the unique nature of mukbang viewing. Conclusions: The study contributes to digital content consumption literature by providing empirical evidence of factors influencing viewer engagement in the mukbang context. It offers practical insights for content creators, marketers, and platform developers, emphasizing the importance of informative and credible content in driving viewer satisfaction and promoting positive word-of-mouth. By extending established media theories to this emerging form of digital entertainment, our research paves the way for future studies. The study's limitations, including its cross-sectional nature and specific cultural context, suggest directions for future research.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes how cabin crew service quality influences customer loyalty in the aviation industry. Specifically, it examines how the reliability, professionalism, and authenticity of cabin crew services affect cognitive loyalty and whether such effects affect emotional loyalty. Design and methodology: We surveyed passengers who had used aviation services in the past year. Structural equation modelling was used to test our hypotheses. To test model fit and assess reliability, validity was developed for the measurement items of each variable. Findings: The results support all four hypotheses. Reliability, professionalism, and authenticity of cabin crew services positively influence cognitive loyalty. Furthermore, cognitive loyalty significantly and positively affects emotional loyalty. These findings highlight the crucial role of cabin crew in fostering both rational preference and emotional attachment among passengers. Conclusions: This study provides insights into developing customer loyalty in the aviation industry. It demonstrates the need to invest in cabin crew training, which ultimately affects all three service quality dimensions. It also indicates that carriers can consider cognitive loyalty as a gateway to emotional loyalty and should pursue strategies accordingly. These results provide airlines with practical implications for improving customer loyalty and furthering their competitive advantage in the industry.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between exclusion experiences and tactile sensations in online contexts, moving beyond existing frameworks of social exclusion research. Social exclusion induces psychological and physiological pain similar to physical pain, which can lead to various behavioral responses aimed at overcoming these distressing experiences. This study focuses on the potential of touch to mitigate psychological and physiological pain. Individuals who experience social exclusion feel emotional distress, leading to an increased desire for physical contact, which is expected to influence their responses to positive tactile products. Data and methodology: To validate this, the study examines how individuals who have experienced social exclusion respond to tactile products, such as sweaters, in online environments. Results: The results indicate that participants in the exclusion condition had a higher purchase intention for tactile products compared to those in the control condition, confirming the psychological mechanism of the desire to touch these products. Conclusions: This research is the first to analyze the relationship between social exclusion and tactile products, contributing to the expansion of the field of social exclusion studies. Additionally, it provides practical implications for marketers regarding the exposure of products targeting individuals experiencing social isolation and emotional loneliness.

Abstract

Purpose: With the rapid development of the e-commerce industry, online e-commerce festivals represented by the "Double Eleven Online Shopping Festival" and "618 Mid-Year Promotion" in China play a unique role in consumer activities and have an important impact on various consumers. As aborigines in the Internet era, college students have huge consumption potential. In order to meet the pursuit of a better life for college students and achieve impressive business results, e-commerce platforms will launch various e-commerce festivals. Research design, data and methodology: This article constructs a research model based on the stimulus organism response model and clue utilization theory, proposes relevant hypotheses, and uses SPSS 27.0 to test the proposed hypotheses. From the perspectives of promotion level, timeliness, and variety of categories, this study aims to verify the impact of e-commerce festivals on college students' purchasing intentions and draw relevant conclusions. Results: Empirical verification has shown that the promotion level, timeliness, variety of categories, and holiday trust of e-commerce festivals have a significant positive impact on the e-commerce festival trust of college students as a consumer group. Conclusions: The conclusion on college students' purchasing intentions not only has guiding significance for the formulation of marketing strategies for enterprises, but also helps to understand the current behavior patterns of young consumers.
