Abstract

Purpose - This research investigates the effect of disclosure quality with two main components, reliability and timeliness, on economic value added in Iran. Research design, data, and methodology - The sampling includes 170 Tehran Stock Exchange listed companies from 2008-12. Multiple regression analysis was applied to test the hypotheses and estimates of the coefficients. Firm size and return on assets were the control variables. Results - The results show that timeliness of information has a positive impact on economic value added. We did not find any significant relationship between disclosure quality and reliability of information and economic value added. The regressed model shows that there is no significant association between firm size and economic value added. The results also show that there is a positive association between return on assets and economic value added. Conclusions - Theoretically, timely information is effective in decision-making. This study shows that timeliness of information has positive effect on the creation of economic value added. However, disclosure quality, reliability, and firm size do not effect on economic value added. Companies with greater return on assets produce greater economic value added.

Abstract

Purpose - Benford's Law is a simple and effective auditor tool that detects fraud. This paper's purpose is to audit the efficiency of Benford's law, which uses a set of strange observations, certain numbers repeated over other numbers in the data set. Research design, data, and methodology - Benford's law was applied in numerical analysis. We can say that in addition to reducing the duration of the audit, the capacities of the audit were more robust. Results - Sample auditse valuated the ability of auditors to prove fraud and expand the use of analytical procedures in planning the audit. Additionally, the use of the analyses as part of the computer's internal controls helped to further improve the effectiveness of internal controls and reinforce them. Conclusions - Benford analysis should be carried out as appropriate. In subsequent studies, it can also be examined as a tool to reveal doubtful accounts. Numerical analysis of the data and a computer are necessary. Programs for data analysis in various applications such as auditing (SAS) and (ACL) and (Case Ware) and (IDEA) are available.

Abstract

Purpose - The main goals of this study are (1) to study the information sources used the most by customers of Islamic banks; and (2) to compare this with conventional bank customers. Research design, data, and methodology - 125 Islamic bank customers and 125 conventional bank customers were surveyed. The study employed two independent sample tests. Additionally, an exploratory study was conducted to support the quantitative analysis. Result - The results show that Islamic bank customers use personal as well as marketing information sources more intensely than conventional bank customers, although the result differences were not significant. Specifically, customers of Islamic banks use certain personal resources (parents and friends) and marketing information (marketers)intensely than conventional bank customers. Conclusion - The study revealed that friends and parents are the most important information sources for the selection of the Islamic bank. In addition, based on the resources used, Islamic banking customers can be classified as traditional and religious communities. Therefore, the most effective customer communications will be through Islamic groups such as Islamic social institutions and Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Purpose - Could blood type provide the key to wellness and affect our personality? The theory that blood type is linked to personality (and other mental and physical qualities) is popular mostly in Japan, although it has carried over to Taiwan and South Korea. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - Questionnaires were distributed to 380 production line company employees. The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were examined through independence testing and the average ratio comparison of the two populations. Additionally, using Pearson's chi-square formula, the relationship between the blood group (independent variable) and general group participation (dependent variable) was tested along with the Schuprow coefficient. Result - The prioritization of blood groups over the general group participation was identified and the following results were obtained: Individual group participation is affected by personality features derived from temperament, mood, and other characteristics. Conclusion - The study showed that individual blood groups have an effect on their group cooperation, and among blood groups, blood group A had the greatest tendency to group participation, followed by blood groups O, AB, B, respectively.
