Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the determinants of corporate anti-corruption practice disclosure (ACPD) from the perspective of rent-seeking theory. Research design, data, and methodology - Data are hand-collected from corporate social responsibility reports (CSRR) issued by 724 A-share listed firms in China. This paper provides an empirical analysis of the relationship between ownership structure and corporate ACPD as well as its moderating role in the institutional environment. Results - Our findings indicate that rent-seeking is a key factor in influencing corporate ACPD. State-owned enterprises disclose significantly more anti-corruption information than private ones in order to achieve personal promotion of top executives. Monopoly enterprises reported significantly less anti-corruption information than enterprises in competitive industries due to their rent-seeking behavior. The reduction of government intervention and improvement of legal environment are helpful to curb corporate rent-seeking activities and enhance the level of corporate ACPD. Conclusions - Rent-seeking is an important factor in explaining corporate voluntary disclosure in emerging countries. Institutional environment also plays a moderating role in the relationship between ownership structure and corporate voluntary disclosure. Our results are of interest to policy makers, regulators and market participants that are interested in corporate voluntary disclosure and corruption prevention.

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to shed light on the healthcare management systems in correlation with the advancing technological world, as well as the many diversified systems in different Asian countries. Research design, data, and methodology - This is a comprehensive study on the past researches that have been conducted on the field of healthcare management in different Asian countries. The different types of healthcare coverages were examined by country. Additionally, incorporating the healthcare system with technology is also investigated in this research. Results - The results have shown that there is a rapid incorporation of the technology in today's society with the healthcare systems. This has promising effects for the future, and for the different healthcare systems that exist within other Asian countries around the world. Conclusion - Quality healthcare for people are still elusive, and the healthcare management should improve on ways to better take care of their patients for the near future. By shedding light on the healthcare systems of Asian countries, an idea of the similarities and differences each hold can be assessed and utilized for future goals. By incorporating technology into healthcare systems, this will help in improving the overall care and quality-of-life that patients receive for the future.

Abstract

Purpose - With the economic development in China, the lifestyle of Chinese customers has changed dramatically. Chinese customers are more likely to have coffee in a shop with the ability to make them happy than those with high quality coffee in a nice physical environment. Happiness becomes a critical driver of customers' intention to purchase a cup of coffee in a specific coffee shop again and again. As a result, happiness becomes an important factor for managers to make strategies for attracting customers. Although managers and scholars pay more attention to emphasize the importance of happiness in customers' consumption, little research has been conducted to investigate the relationship between happiness and coffee shop's continuous usage intention in the Chinese coffee industry. Research design, data, and methodology - A research model is made to explain the impact of happiness on customer's behavior. To understand the influence of happiness better, we consider two dimensions of happiness which are subjective well-being and psychological well-being. In order to confirm the relationships of the variables in the research model, the online survey is constructed in China. Customers who have experienced the services in a coffee shop are asked to do the questionnaire. With 453 reliable questionnaires, structural equation modeling is used to analyze the causal relationships of the coffee quality, physical environment, subjective well-being, psychological well-being, and continuous usage intention. Results - Results indicate that coffee quality and physical environment are not the direct factors that influence customers' continuous usage intention. However, good coffee quality and physical environment are the significant predictors of Chinese customers' happiness associated with subjective well-being and psychological well-being, which in turn affects customers' continuous usage intention. Conclusions - In this study, it is proposed that coffee quality and physical environment may be the key factors influencing customers' happiness. Happiness, including subjective well-being and psychological well-being matters in decision making process. More importantly, happiness increases the continuous usage intention when the coffee shop can serve customers with higher quality coffee at a good atmospheric place. Managers should consider happiness as an important factor in making marketing strategies to compete in this industry.

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the effect of choice of cause on the purchase intention by dividing it into the situation selected by the consumer and the company. This study also examines the moderating effect of cause options diversity and company-cause fit on the relationship between choice of cause and purchase intention. This will provide the theoretical information necessary to gain an in-depth understanding of the consumer's intention to purchase the cause-related marketing campaign, and in practice, it is expected that companies will be able to obtain useful information for effective planning and execution of the cause-related marketing campaign. Research design, date, and methodology - This study's survey was carried out on the college students of university located in Shandong, China. It was from November 4-11, 2018, and a total of 440 questionnaires were distributed, with 424 collected. Of them, effective questionnaires used in the final study were a total of 400 except 24 that couldn't be used. In this study, empirical analysis was done with frequency analysis, reliability analysis, analysis of variance and simple effect analysis by using Statistics Package SPSS 20.0. Results - The results are reported below: first of all, in the cause-related campaign consumers are more willing to buy the products when they are allowed to choice the focal cause of charity than when the company selects the cause of charity. Furthermore, the positive effect of allowing consumers to choice the cause of charity (vs. company choice) on purchase intentions is greater for high cause diversity to select. Finally, the positive effect of allowing consumers to choice the cause of charity (vs. company choice) on purchase intentions is greater when perceived fit between the company and the cause charity is low. Conclusions - This study extends the scope of the consumer perspective from consumer purchase intention research to the choice of cause in the cause-related marketing. When consumers select the cause, it would be better to provide the cause charity in diversifying selection and provide options for low fit between company and cause charity.

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the chatbot's characteristics (ease of use, social presence, playfulness, usefulness) on service value, customer satisfaction and reuse intention when consumers purchased fashion products in the mobile shopping environments. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from Korean consumers from ages 20 to 59 who have experienced using chatbot in a mobile shopping for fashion products. After a pilot survey to 53 customers, the preliminary questionnaire was revised for the final test, and the final questionnaire was administered to 1500 customers. Out of these, 300 were collected. After deleting 48 incomplete ones, 252 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. Frequency analysis and exploratory factor analysis using SPSS 23.0 and confirmatory factor analysis and structure equation analysis using AMOS 18.0 were employed for data analyses. Results - First, four factors were extracted for the chatbot's characteristics: ease of use, social presence, playfulness and usefulness. Second, regarding the effect of chatbot's characteristics on service value when purchasing fashion products in the mobile shopping environment, ease of use, playfulness and usefulness of chatbot significantly affected service value. Social presence did not have significant effects on service value. Third, in terms of the effect of the chatbot's characteristics on customer satisfaction when purchasing fashion products in the mobile shopping environment, social presence, playfulness and usefulness of chatbot significantly had an effect on customer satisfaction. Ease of use did not have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Fourth, service value of chatbot when purchasing fashion products in mobile shopping environment was found to have an effect on customer satisfaction with chatbot. Fifth, service value of chatbot on reuse intention when purchasing fashion products in the mobile shopping environment was found to have an effect on reuse intention of chatbot. Sixth, customer satisfaction with chatbot had a significant impact on the reuse intention of the chatbot when purchasing fashion products in the mobile shopping environment. Conclusions - The present study provide dimensions on the chatbot's characteristics and these may provide helpful data for further studies in this area and for marketers as well.

Abstract

Purpose - Blockchain technology, which has the characteristics of credibility, security, integrity and decentralization, has brought innovation to internet platforms that mediate peer to peer transactions, as well as changes to the contents distribution services. Blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms can solve problems which have been articulated on prior internet social networks: increased market dominance of platform business because of centralization with no reward to creators who upload on platforms, and lack of fairness, such as unfair profit distribution between the copyright holder and businesses. With this background, the current research confirmed the factors that affect the intention of usage and behaviors, targeting potential users of blockchain-based copyright distribution platforms. Research design, data, and methodology - Centered around the UTAUT2 Model, the research model was designed with 'Perceived Security' added as Construct, and 'Age' and 'Knowledge Level' added as moderating variables. For data, 607 responses were collected by an online survey, and 601 responses were included in the final analysis. We analyzed the research model and sample by using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 on the collected responses. Results - First, results of research on whether Constructs make positive effects on Intention of use is: social influence, facilitating conditions, habit, and perceived security had positive effects on intention of use, and performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and economic value did not. Second, results of the research on whether facilitating condition, habit, and intention of use made an impact on using behaviors, it was shown that only habit and intention of use made positive effects. Third, in two groups divided by age above or under 40, group effort expectancy, intention of use, habit, and intention of use had controlling effects, and facilitating condition, intention of use, perceived security, and intention of use had effects in both groups. Conclusions - The research shows that no matter how great a blockchain-based platform is, if advantages of blockchain are not proved in various industries and utilized in real life like the internet, blockchain-based distribution systems will develop slowly. Rather than a short-term inducement emphasizing technology, there is a need for a strategic approach that can foster the environment.

Abstract

Purpose - This study is to clarify the structural relationship between the direct supervisor and organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior through mediation of the Leader-member exchange (LMX) in the hospital organization, and to confirm the mediating effect of the LMX. Through this study, we will provide basic data on the aspects of HR to enhance organizational immersion and organizational civic behavior in hospital organizations, and present suggestions on academic contribution and effective organizational operation measures. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is to investigate the relationship between authentic leadership and OC and OCB of the organization member, which is proposed to secure more active and high competitiveness in the recent changing medical environment, with multi-regression and B&K(1986) method. For this purpose, 653 employees of senior hospitals in Seoul and Kyeong-In area were surveyed using structured questionnaires. Each questionnaire was composed of 7-point scale, and each hypothesis was testified by multiple leaner regression and by BK method for testifying mediator effect. Result - As a result of the analysis, it was found that the male and non-medical staff had higher recognition level than the medical staff in the LMX, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. In the senior management or more than 5 years' experience group, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior were recognized higher than the group of subordinate managers. Second, authentic leadership has a positive influence on LMX, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior, and LMX has a significant positive impact on organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. In addition, as a result of analyzing LMX mediating effect in the relationship of authentic leadership and organizational effectiveness by BK method, LMX had partial mediating effects between authentic leadership and organizational citizenship behavior, and between authentic leadership and organizational commitment. Conclusion - Results of the study confirmed that all the members of the hospital organization that were lacking served as positive factors for the relationships of authentic leadership and LMX, and authentic leadership and organizational effectiveness. It is expected that the hospital organization will be able to suggest such as the organizational approach to expect high organizational effectiveness centering on authentic leadership ability as psychological capital.
