Abstract

Purpose - This study attempts to extend the research in responsible luxury by identifying contexts where Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can promote luxury brands' evaluation. It contributes to the literature on consumer responses to CSR, and to responsible luxury in particular and demonstrates how dispositional consensus and luxury-CSR information of luxury brands affects consumers' evaluation of brand. Research design, data, and methodology - An experiment was conducted to test the relationship between brand evaluation and responsible luxury brands' CSR information using collected data through a survey in a large university of South Korea. Study conditions were manipulated with various product types to analyze the relationship in different product domains. Results - When consensus regarding sincere and altruistic motive of companies for CSR activity is high, the perceived fit between luxury brand and the type of CSR has no effect on brand evaluation. But, in case of lower consensus regarding the benevolent company motives, higher fit enhances evaluation than lower fit. Conclusions - In using consensus as a guiding factor to choose the type of charity with favorably view, the level of irrespective fit can help luxury firms to enjoy the benefits of better image. In case of low consensus donating to charities that are closely related to the brands' product or area of business seems to be fruitful.

Abstract

Purpose - This paper aims to suggest a delivery constrained internet shopping optimization problem (DISOP) which must be solved for online recommendation system to provide a customized service considering cost and delivery conditions at the same time. Research design, data, and methodology - To solve a (DISOP), we propose a multi-objective formulation and a solution approach. By using a commercial optimization software (LINDO), a (DISOP) can be solved iteratively and a pareto optimal set can be calculated for real-sized problem. Results - We propose a new research problem which is different with internet shopping optimization problem since our problem considers not only the purchasing cost but also delivery conditions at the same time. Furthermore, we suggest a multi-objective mathematical formulation for our research problem and provide a solution approach to get a pareto optimal set by using numerical example. Conclusions - This paper proposes a multi-objective optimization problem to solve internet shopping optimization problem with delivery constraint and a solution approach to get a pareto optimal set. The results of research will contribute to develop a customized comparison and recommendation system to help more easy and smart online shopping service.

Abstract

Purpose - Sharing economy is a promising research topic as a complementary approach for solving difficult issues resulting from market economy. Motive factors for consumer participation in sharing economy are necessary to facilitate the growth of sharing economy. This study analyzes motives for participating in sharing economy using samples from a car sharing service in South Korea. Research design, data, and methodology - Four hypotheses drawn from a new research model integrating the relationships between economic and social value, social value, and the intention to use sharing economy services were proposed. 292 valid samples were collected from Socar users in South Korea. Multiple regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses. Results - An empirical study identified the importance of convenience and time savings as determinants of intention to use continuously a car sharing service. Cost savings and social value did not significantly influence the intention to use car sharing service. Conclusions - The present study implies that managers working in sharing economy don't have to miss a role of convenience. Although a new finding implies that convenience is an important factor influencing car sharing service, the present study has a limitation of generality that samples are mostly collected from the age range of 20 to 30 years.

Abstract

Purpose - This study was intended to find the selection attribution factors and service satisfaction determinants of third party logistics suppliers in Dongdaemun wholesale market. Research design, data, and methodology - A questionnaire survey was performed, and the retailers and wholesalers in Dongdaemun wholesale market were asked to fill in it. Company employees using third party logistics service were selected by a random sampling method. Results - It is easy for both retailers and wholesalers to use third party logistics service. The logistics companies in Dongdaemun wholesale market have paid more heed to the security of freight and the operability. That is, the freight safety and operating service are the most important factors in selecting third party logistics suppliers, and they both have a close relationship with user satisfaction. There is no relation between service level and recognition in selection factors of third party logistics suppliers. All the responsiveness, operability and informativeness of third-party logistics providers has a significant relationship with user satisfaction. Conclusions - Third party logistics service is entirely different from the existing delivery or transport service. The most market vendors' wish for third party logistics suppliers is the stability of freight and robust operating service. They also demand the responsiveness for special or emergency situation with having information strength.

Abstract

Purpose - This research investigates whether e-service quality has the influence on long-term orientation, consumer commitment, and satisfaction. Research design, data, and methodology - Data collection took place for 30 days from October 1, 2015 to October 31, 2015. 315 copies had been analyzed. Covariance structure analysis with credibility and factor analysis was conducted to verify this research hypotheses. Results - First, the lower dimension concepts of e-service quality, reliability, and tangibility had a significant influence on customer commitment, and responsiveness had a significant negative influence. However, aesthetics did not have a significant influence on that. Secondly, aesthetics had a significant influence on long-term orientation, but reliability, tangibility, and responsiveness did not have a significant influence. Thirdly, reliability, tangibility, and aesthetics had a positive influence on customer satisfaction. However, responsiveness had a negative influence. Fourthly, customer commitment had a significant and positive influence on customer satisfaction, but customer commitment and customer satisfaction had a negative influence on long-term orientation. Conclusions - This research verifies the influencing relationship between e-service quality of a franchise coffee shop application with customer commitment, customer satisfaction, and long term orientation. By the results of this research, possibility of application and expansion of theory has been proven.

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of the study was to find out factors having influence upon management of franchise convenience stores being distribution business by interview with franchisees in accordance with Delphi method and to investigate marketing strategy of increase income. Research design, data, and methodology - This study investigated not only franchisees but also head office's franchise consultants of convenience stores carefully by Delta technique to suggest actual solutions of practice and to be different from precedent studies. Delphi method's interview and questionnaire were used to investigate performance of franchisees. 120 franchisees were interviewed to consist of men and women. Results - FC visited franchise stores to investigate: Franchisees thought of keeping of exact information on commodity information and sales promotion events, and admitted of franchiser's effort of growth and development of stores and improper visit frequency of stores and low effort of solving of difficulty of franchisees. Conclusions - More than 80% of the franchisees cognized more than 70% of performance upon request of ordering from headquarters: Not only franchisees but also headquarters need to lessen gap of difference of cognition. Franchise headquarters was thought to give services below than common level, and service manual and operation manual were thought to be high. Headquarters need to give practical support service.

Abstract

Purpose - The world economy is changing with FTA. Lots of FTAs are going on between countries and economic blocs in the world economy as the battle field of FTA. This study is aims to suggest a practical data about Korea-China FTA by analyzing an economic ripple effect and main issues on Korea-China FTA negotiation. Research design, data, and methodology - This study analyzes the economic impact and major issues expected during the promotion period of Korea-China FTA, and promoted the purpose of this research with literature review and comparative analysis. Result - FTA agreement with China is expected to contribute to Korean economic growth by bringing effectiveness of securing and resolving mutual trade conflict, and one-sided trade protection control of Chinese domestic demand market. The potentiality between United States and Korea is also very important issue. Conclusions - To minimize the adverse effects of FTA and to maximize the positive effects on the logistics industry, the Correspondence strategy is suggested based on the effects of FTA after analyzing the entire situation of the logistics. Especially, this article places emphasis on a close cooperation system between the government agencies to get a good conclusion from the negotiation even if the e-Commerce issue to be a critical point under Korea-China FTA.

Abstract

Purpose - The year 2016 marks 20 years since the opening of Korean distribution market in 1996. After this opening, the domestic market expanded and modernized, and has grown to become an advanced distribution market with a greater range of consumer choices. On the other hand, traditional markets have waned and their management has become worse. However, traditional markets do not have economic value alone. This study examines the effects of social value in traditional market such as the value of Cultural Tourism and the value of Sharing Community with Traditional Market on Satisfaction, Loyalty and Place Attachment of the residents. Research design, data and methodology - A questionnaire was organized for this study after a hypothesis was set based on theoretical background. Verification of the hypothesis was undertaken by statistically analyzing questionnaire responses. Personal interviews were performed for this study, and a total of 300 responses were collected, of which 228 responses (76%) were from women. The survey coverage was divided into 10 regions ranging from metropolitan areas to the provincial level, and the age groups were divided into 30s to 60s to ensure diversity of the area and age. Results - To summarize the study results, through verification of the hypothesis in terms of meaningful influence, it appears the values of Cultural Tourism to Satisfaction and Loyalty are supported. On the other hand, the value of Sharing Community is only supported for Satisfaction. It appears that Satisfaction to Loyalty and Loyalty to Place Attachment are meaningful effects. The mediator effect was also reconciled through satisfaction and loyalty. Loyalty was analyzed in terms of mediating the effect of satisfaction on place attachment. Conclusions - It is noted in this study that government support is required to preserve traditional markets and renewal program. Community requires multilateral communication and the formation of effective relationships. In contrast to the economic value emphasized by large retailers, the empirical analysis of the non-economic effects of traditional markets has presented the significance of socio-cultural values in traditional markets. In the future, socio-cultural values and economic values should be integrated into more empirical studies through mutual comparison. Investigating the increase and decrease of social value in traditional markets will help the future formulation in government policy.

Abstract

Purpose - As recently social contributions of firms are positioned as key strategic actions, it is demanding to review the effects of social contributions on overall corporate management. The research aims to effects of social contributions on social values and word of mouth in firm level and product level. Further roles of consumer identification with firm and product eco-friendliness are also analyzed. Research design, data, and methodology - The paper conducted a survey in which two scenarios are used for manipulating the degree of corporate social contributions. The survey sample consist of 165 undergraduate and graduate students in a university, located in Seoul. For analyzing data, analysis of variance is applied, in conjunction with analysis of moderating effects, through version 23 of SPSS statistical package. Results - In the firm level, social contributions by firms have a positive effect on social values of firms. Consumer identification showed a moderating role in the effect. Social value of the firm with passive social contribution perceived by respondents with a high degree of identification was higher than social value of the firm with active social contribution perceived by respondents with a low degree of identification. Corporate social value has positive effect on word-of-mouth of firms. In the product level, social contributions by firms has a positive effect on social values of product. Product eco-friendliness showed a moderating role in the effect. For eco-friendly product, social values are higher in the firm with active social contributions than in the firm with passive social contributions. However, for non eco-friendly product, the difference in social values between the two firms does not exist. Product social values has positive effect on intention for WOM of products. WOM of eco-friendly products with low social value showed no difference with WOM of non eco-friendly products with high social value. Conclusions - These results imply that firms should enhance consumer identification with firm in making social contributions for optimizing corporate social value and enhancing word-of-mouth(WOM). Managerial implications of the results suggest it would be more effective to improve social value of product by active social contributions for increasing word-of-mouth(WOM) of product.

Abstract

Purpose - Cargo Distribution O2O Business Model is the form of business that connects the cargo and empty cargo-truck based on mobile online platform. In Korean cargo distribution market, FIN(Freight Information Network) is the only model that represents O2O Business Model. The purpose of this paper is investigating the recognition of driver who is the only source of income toward cargo distribution O2O Business Model, and based on the investigated recognition of trucker, suggesting strategic implication. Research design, data, and methodology - PESTLE methodology which is massive environment analysis, and 5 Forces Model when analyze the present and future of cargo distribution O2O business market of industrial structure analysis were used as investigation methodology. Also structured questionnaire was used for trucker's recognition investigation. Based on collected 196 structured effective questionnaires organized with 26 questions were analyzed using statistics package. Results - 51.3% of responded driver is non-differentiated, deprofessionalize form that transport all types of cargo. 95.4% recognize cargo distribution O2O Business Model, FIN is needed, especially during back-hall(94.7%). As a payment method, monthly due is preferred(73%), but it is also needed to pay annual due and pay whenever cargo and cargo-truck are connected(24.5%). Trucker prefer FIN operation corporation which has rich supply(85.2%), and is liberal in supply in any domestic area(75.5%). Conclusions - First, 91% was the member of FIN, and 95% of non-member recognized FIN is needed. 83% of them has the intent to be the member of FIN. Second, besides of monthly due as payment method of FIN, 25% has positive recognition toward new payment method. The new payment method means paying annual due and pay whenever cargo and cargo-truck are connected. Third, because of information imbalance about the cargo and cargo-truck among, operators whose business goal is FIN, it was investigated that transportation fee is low and commission charge of broker is high. The core of Korean Cargo Distribution O2O Business Model, FIN, is online platform that matches cargo and cargo-truck. Therefore, FIN operator should minimize the amount of single transportation of trucker. This study suggests the development of shipper using FIN, diversify distribution channel, suggesting backhaul toward trucker as solution to FIN operator.

Abstract

Purpose - Domestic franchise market has been grown steadily, reaching 50 trillion won in sales and 3,360 franchise headquarters in 2014. A franchise system is an effective business system for the franchisees to lower the failure rate due to the fact that the inexperienced entrepreneurs are supported by their headquarters through the franchisee contract. However, there are also conflicts between franchiser and franchisee behind the quantitative growth of domestic franchise industry. Therefore, it is very important to structure the causes of conflicts and to examine the effect of factors on the relationship commitment and performances. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, the author divides the composite incompatibility between the franchise and the franchisee into goal incongruity, domain dissensus, and perceptual differences, and examines each dimension to the relationship with commitment and performances. To verify the proposed research model and test hypotheses, the author selected 200 franchise responses in food and beverage industry. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS structural equation modeling program. Results - The empirical findings provide goal incongruity and perceptual differences have a negative effect on the affective commitment, but not the calculative commitment. In addition, affective commitment and calculative commitment are found to have a positive effect on re-contractual intention and extended brand shop running intention, respectively. Affective commitment have a stronger effect on re-contractual intention than calculative commitment. Conclusions - First of all, the fact that goal incongruity and perceptual differences negatively affect the affective commitment, but it does not affect the calculative commitment. It means the relationship commitment in distribution channel are multi-dimensional concept that may be attributed to emotional or affective dimensions but may exist in terms of necessity or power-dependence. Second, the level of relationship commitment such as affective and calculative commitment to franchise headquarters positively affects the re-contractual intention and franchiser's extend brand shop running intention suggest that franchiser should encourage and support existing franchisee's commitment. Third, the fact that affective commitment has a greater effect on relationship performance than calculative commitment means to induce franchisee's affective commitment and to prevent the inconsistency between goals and perceptual differences.

Abstract

Purpose - Previous studies related to emotional labor of salespeople have mainly focused on identifying the antecedents of emotional exhaustion and turnover intention and exploring the mitigating effects salespeople's motivation on emotional exhaustion and turnover intention. They also demonstrates that there are different roles for moderating in social support, which means mental/physical support related to the job in supervisors, colleagues and organizations. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how service employees' surface acting affect turnover intention through emotional exhaustion. Another important objective of this paper is to investigate whether perceived social support moderates 1) the relationship between surface acting and emotional exhaustion 2) the relationship between emotional exhaustion and turnover intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To test the hypotheses, we collected the data from Korean insurance company sales employees. A total of 235 responses were received, from which 220 usable responses were obtained after list-wise deletion. Working with a sample of 220 responses, structural equation modeling was employed to empirically test research hypotheses(<H1> The relationship between surface acting and emotion exhaustion, <H2> The relationship between emotion exhaustion and turnover intention, <H3> The moderating effect of perceived social support(PSS) on the relationship between surface acting and emotion exhaustion, and <H4>The moderating effect of perceived social support(PSS) on the relationship between emotion exhaustion and turnover intention. SPSS 22.0 and AMOS software were used in these data analysis. Results - The service employees' surface acting was positively related to the emotional exhaustion; in turn, the service employees' feelings on emotional exhaustion are positively related to turnover intention. In addition, Perceived Social Support significantly moderated the relationship between surface acting and emotional exhaustion. However, perceived social support has a non-significant moderating effect on the path from emotional exhaustion to turnover intention. On the basis of these results, the following conclusion can be drawn. First, distribution service companies will be needed the administrative efforts to offer counseling programs and space to provide their members with enough rest in experiencing psychological pain due to the salespeople's surface acting. Also, it is necessary for distribution service companies to identify and share the examples of successfully solving emotional exhaustion caused by salespeople's surface acting.

Abstract

Purpose - Service employees who work at airline check-in counters in airport are typically employed to undergo emotional labor. Emotional labor of airport service employees is an important managerial issue that must be solved. This study attempts to examine the underlying mechanism of emotional labor on turnover intention. It focuses on the consequences of emotional labor of service employees. The purpose of this study is to examine and empirically test how the two-types of emotional labor(deep-acting & surface-acting) of service employees differently affect the level of their job satisfaction and job stress. It also investigates the relationship between job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. For this purpose, first, this study identified the structural relationship between emotional labor, job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. Second, it investigated the mediating effects of job satisfaction between deep-acting and turnover intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To empirically test these structural relationships among research variables, data were collected by a interview from service manager of domestic airline companies and survey from 179 service employees who are working at single domestic airline check-in counters in airports in Korea using a self-rating questionnaire with total 19 items dealing with emotional labor, job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. To test the research hypotheses, collected data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structure equation model (SEM). Results - This study obtains meaningful research results. The results from this study are as follows. First, deep-acting has a positive effect on job satisfaction, whereas, deep-acting has a negative effect on job satisfaction. Second, surface-acting has a positive effect on job stress, whereas, the effects of surface-acting on job satisfaction did not show statistically significant result. Also, job satisfaction has partial mediating roles to the relationship between deep-acting and turnover intention. Conclusions - Based on the results of this empirical study, emotional labor of service employees is one of the key factors influencing their job satisfaction and job stress. In particular, deep-acting is the important factor in emotional labor to increase job satisfaction and reduce job stress. Finally, theoretical, managerial implications, and research limitations are mentioned in discussion parts.

Abstract

Purpose - There are many variables related to consumer-brand relationship such as brand attitude, attachment, commitment and brand loyalty and we should manage these all variables successfully to achieve a strong brand loyalty. The objective of this research is to investigate the path from brand attitude and brand attachment to brand commitment and brand loyalty. Specially, this article focuses on the moderating effects of brand type and consumer innovativeness in the causal relationships between variables. Research design, data, and methodology - The seven hypotheses were proposed and tested empirically in this research. Three of seven hypotheses were the effects of brand attitude and brand attachment on the brand commitment and brand loyalty. Another two hypotheses presented the moderating effect of brand type and other two hypotheses expressed the moderating effect of consumer innovativeness in the causal relationships between variables. Research data were collected from the surveying of university students and the 282 samples were used to test the proposed hypotheses empirically. We utilized SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 for statistical analyses such as reliability test, validity test and path analysis. Results - The results show that brand attitude influences the brand loyalty and brand attachment influences the brand commitment positively. The brand attachment also influences the brand commitment positively. We found that there is a moderating effect of brand type in the causal relationship between brand attitude and loyalty though there is no significant moderating effect in the causality between brand attachment and commitment. We also fount that there is no significant moderating effect of consumer innovativeness in the causal relationships among brand attitude, brand attachment, brand commitment and brand loyalty. In Summary, 5 of 7 hypotheses in this study were supported and 2 hypotheses were not supported. Conclusions - There is a path model of consumer-brand relationship from brand attitude and brand attachment to brand commitment and brand loyalty. Companies should provide their consumers with effective marketing program in every phase of consumer-brand relationship to build brand loyalty. In addition, there are possibilities that the relationships among brand attitude, brand attachment, brand commitment and brand loyalty are moderated by brand type and consumer innovativeness. Companies should consider perceived brand type and innovativenss of their consumers in planning and executing their various marketing programs for their brand management.
