First, psychological distress and mental health status of infertile women or couples were briefly reviewed. Second, the purposes and content of infertility counseling were presented. Third, the empirical evidence of the efficacy of infertility counseling was reviewed. Abstract

This study, using the concept mapping method, analyzed the results of in-depth interview with adolescent single mothers (N = 8). As a result, 51 items for Anxiety factors and 37 items for Needs factors were extracted. Multidimensional Analysis (MDS) and a two-step Hierarchical Cluster analysis were used to identify underlying dimensions and clusters. For the risk factor, five clusters (‘emotional burdens of child-rearing;’ ‘financial burdens of child-rearing;’ ‘fear and concerns about future life;’ ‘concerns about future romantic relationships;’ and ‘concerns about stereotypes’) were distributed on: (a) x-axis for ‘emotional and instrumental factors’ and (b) y-axis for ‘being a woman as a person and as a mother.’ Protective factors regarding the independence of adolescent single mothers consisted of three clusters (‘desire for perceived well-being;’ ‘desire for instrumental and educational supports;’ and ‘desire for social support’) were distributed on: (a) x-axis was for ‘internal and external factors,’ and (b) y-axis was for ‘instrumental and human resources.’ Implications of the current study include: (a) exploring the concept structure of the risk and protective factors of Korean adolescent single mothers who are about to leave the rehabilitative institutions and (b) identifying their unique and lively experiences through the in-depth interview. The study is meaningful in that it explored the risk and protective factors of adolescent single mothers particularly from their own perspectives before leaving the facility.

In condition where the woman was rejected, both male and female participants were likely to do ‘respect and acceptance’ behavior. In condition where man had a sexual relation with women through persuasion, female participants rated the perceived women's level of consent who complied with the sexual relations lower than male participants. They also rated the men's perceived women's level of consent higher than male participants. In condition where woman had a sexual relation with men through persuasion, the male participants rated the perceived man's level of consent who complied with the sexual relations higher than female counterparts. Such results were discussed in sexual scripts and cognitive dissonance, and suggested of the risk of date rape.

Abstract

This study investigated the relationships between mothers’ psychological variables and their follow-up childbirth. Total 1,550 subjects were selected from a sample of longitudinal Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC), collected in 2008 when their child was under 1 year of age (wave 1) and in 2015 (wave 2), by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE). The results indicated that mothers’ age, parenting stress, and marital satisfaction in wave 1 has affected their follow-up childbirth in seven years. Also, for the mothers who had their first child in wave 1, mothers’ emotional value of children has affected their follow-up childbirth in seven years. These results suggest that psychological support should be considered in developing policies to increase follow-up birth rate.
