Abstract

The most typical roles of libraries in their information societies are public access points to the networks, providing teaching and training, assisting in knowledge resource discovery, and knowledge providers. In order to fulfil these roles, libraries should be a key element in national and local cultual policies. Effective policy making is the most important responsibility of libraries as well as national and local governments and one of library management tools for running the library. The purpose of this study is, therefore, to review the spectrum of the library and information policies in Korea and suggest some desirable directivities for library policy making.
