본 연구에서는 역할수용이 공감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 역할수용처치 집단이 역할수용무처치 집단에 비해 공감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 역할과 개인의 분리 지표로 정보회상오류량과 동조를 사용하여 역할수용처치가 역할과 개인의 분리에 미치는 영향을 알아보았는데, 역할수용처치 집단이 역할수용무처치 집단에 비해 집단내 정보회상 오류량이 적은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 또 다른 역할과 개인의 분리지표인 동조에서 보면, 집단 따돌림 의견제시에서 따돌림시키는 아이를 지지하는 입장이 주어져도 역할수용처치 집단은 역할수용무처치 집단에 비해 잘 동조하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 역할수용과 공감과의 관계에서 역할과 개인의 분리 지각이 공감을 매개하는지를 알아보기 위해 중다회귀분석한 결과, 역할과 개인의 분리지표인 집단내 오류량을 통제했을 때 역할수용에 따른 효과가 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이 결과는 역할과 개인의 분리가 역할수용과 공감적 반응간의 매개변인이 된다는 것을 보여주는 것이다. 다시 말해 역할을 수용함으로써 역할과 개인이 분리되고 그것에 의해 공감이 나타난다는 것이다.
We investigated the effect of role taking on empathy. Results showed that role-taking treatment group was higher in empathy than role-taking non treatment group. Also by using information recall error and by using conformity as a differentiation measure of role and person, we examined the effect of role-taking treatment on differentiation of role and person. Role-taking treatment group showed lower intragroup information recall error than role-taking non treatment group. Although students were given the position supporting the excluder on the opinion of school bullying phenomena, role taking treatment group conformed less than role taking non treatment group. Also, we investigated whether the differentiation of role and person mediates the effect of role-taking on empathy. When the intragroup information recall error used as the differentiation measure of role and person, the main effect of role taking treatment did not show significant difference. This result showed that the effects of role-taking on empathy was mediated by differentiation of role and person. In other words, it was not the role taking itself, but the differentiation of role and person in role taking that increased empathy.
