이 연구의 목적은 성인 애착 유형 및 요인이 성격 특성이나 스트레스 대처 전략과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 성인 애착에 관한 문헌 연구와 대학생 433명을 대상으로 성인 애착 및 관련 변인들에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 안정된 성인 애착 유형은 성인 애착의 하위 요인 가운데 자신감이 가장 높았으며, 여러 성격 특성 중 활동성, 안정성, 사회성 면에서 불안정한 애착 유형들보다 높은 점수를 얻었다. 이들은 신경증적 경향이나 정신장애적 경향, 그리고 반사회적 경향도 낮게 나타났다. 안정된 애착유형은 스트레스에 직면했을 때 불안정한 유형들보다 사회적 지지를 추구하거나 문제중심적으로 대처하였다. 불안정한 애착 유형은 유형들-거부, 몰두, 두려운-에 따라 다소 다르나, 안정형에 비해 자신감이 낮고, 사회성이 떨어지며, 신경증적 성향이나 정신장애적 성향이 높게 나타났다. 불안정한 애착유형은 회피적인 스트레스 대처 전략을 주로 쓰는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 이러한 결과들이 상담 및 심리치료에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how adult attachment styles and factors are related with personality characteristics and stress coping strategies. For the purpose, literature review about the concept of adult attachment and the survey of 433 university students on the adult attachment with its relative factors were carried out. The results of the research are as follows : The secure attachment style obtained higher score in confidence factor and personality characteristics of activity, stability, and sociability than three insecure attachment styles. And the secure attachment style had lower tendency in neurosis, psychosis and antisocial behavior. When the secure style was confronted with the stress, she or he sought for the social support and used the problem solving strategy. Otherwise, the insecure attachment styles- dismissing, preoccupied, and fearful- showed the lower score in confidence and sociability, and they had high probability in neurosis and psychosis although three insecure styles responses were different from one anther respects. In the insecure styles, avoidance was their major stress coping strategy. Finally, the implications of these results to counseling and psychotherapy were discussed.
