본 연구의 목적은 행동적 정서조절 전략을 측정하기 위해 개발된 Kraaij와 Garnefski(2019)의 BERQ(Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire)를 한국 성인을 대상으로 타당화하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 원척도 개발자 Vivian Kraaij의 허가를 받은 후 번역과 역번역 과정을 거쳐 개념적 동등성을 확보하였고, 온라인 설문시스템으로 전국 20세∼59세 성인 600명의 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 예비연구 자료(n=300)를 활용한 문항 분석과 탐색적 요인분석 결과 문항 양호도가 입증되었고, 원척도와 동일한 20문항, 5요인이 도출되었다. 이후 본연구 자료(n=300)를 활용한 확인적 요인분석에서 5요인 모형의 적절성을 확인하였다. 이 과정에서 하위요인의 2차 위계 구조가 개발자들의 제안과는 다르게 확인되면서 사회․문화적 요인이 정서를 조절하는 방식에 영향을 줄 수 있음이 시사되었다. 준거관련 타당도는 K-BERQ와 정서조절곤란, 우울, 불안과의 상관관계를 통해 검증하였다. 아울러 성별(남/여), 연령대(20․30대/40․50대)에 따른 측정동등성의 측정단위동일성을 검증하여 성과 연령이 다르더라도 측정된 점수가 동일한 의미인 것을 확인하였고, 이를 기반으로 행동적 정서조절 전략의 사용 빈도를 성별과 연령대별로 비교하였다. 설문 종료일로부터 4주의 간격을 둔 검사-재검사 신뢰도 검증을 통해 측정 시기에 따른 안정성을 입증하였다. 마지막으로 연구의 의의 및 제한점을 논하였다.
The purpose of this study was to validate the Behavioral Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (BERQ), developed by Kraaij and Garnefski (2019), which measures behavioral emotion regulation strategies. Data from 600 adults, aged 20 to 59, were collected and analyzed nationwide. Item analysis and exploratory factor analysis on preliminary data (n=300) substantiated the quality of the items, resulting in a 20-item, 5-factor structure. The validity of this 5-factor model was further confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis with the main study data (n=300). Additionally, the criterion validity of the K-BERQ was established. We also verified metric invariance for measurement equivalence across gender and age groups. Utilizing these findings, we compared the frequency of behavioral emotion regulation strategy use between different genders and age groups. Finally, the stability of the K-BERQ was demonstrated through a 4-week test-retest reliability analysis.
