Recently, there has been a rapid increase of professional counseling at a variety of institutions such as colleges, middle schools, high schools, hospitals, social work agencies, and correctional agencies, which has been followed by an increase of counselor education. The present study attempted a series of multiple-case studies regarding individual supervision, one of the most effective methods of counselor / therapist education. The supervision theories and practical models were reviewed, and two supervision cases (CASE A, B) were analyzed in terms of a supervision model that integrated supervisor's role and supervision topic. This model was then modified in terms of two different dimensions, trainee's professional development and the supervision topics relevant to the trainee's developmental stage. This new model was used to analyse another case (CASE C). Finally, cross-cultural aspects between the U.S. and Korea were discussed to examine the relevancy of the new model to the Korean culture and professional training system.
