미국과 영국 정보전문직 교육 현황의 비교 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 유사한 도서관 문화를 공유한 반면에 사서직의 자격을 부여하는 데에는 대학의 교육과 전문직 단체의 시험이라는 상이한 제도로 출발한 미국과 영국의 석사과정 정보전문직 교육의 현황을 비교하는 것이다. 비교의 대상은 교육과 관련된 전문직 단체의 역할, 교육 기관과 학위의 명칭, 교과과정, 그리고 최근의 경향이다. 연구는 문헌조사 방법과 전문직 단체와 교육기관 홈페이지의 내용 분석으로 수행되었다. 연구의 결과로 나타난 상이함과 유사함에 대한 설명과 이것을 근거로 우리의 사서직 교육에 대한 제안을 하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to compare the present education for information professionals in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. It is intended to find out how the differences in the professional organization's role on the education and the educational institution‘s status of the two countries influence on the professional education. The research was done through the reviews of literature searched and the analyses of the data on the web-based home pages of the institutions concerned. It is concluded that the differences have caused the different educational patterns of the countries. The similarities and differences are interpreted and some suggestions are provided.
