This study analyzed the topics, content, and viewer responses of YouTube content from major domestic university libraries, and sought to derive common characteristics of popular YouTube content from university libraries and discuss providing strategies. All 847 YouTube content and 8,394 user responses (likes, comments, etc.) from eight domestic university libraries were recorded and analyzed. As a result of the study, when analyzed by subject type, educational contents were provided more than others, followed by book contents and lecture contents. When analyzing the characteristics of the contents, the content of education (56.4%) was provided the most, followed by information (19.3%). When analyzing ‘like’ for the contents, interviews got more clicks of ‘like’ than others, followed by lectures, and educational contents. There were more positive ‘comments’ in interviews, library news, event information, and lectures than others. When conducting a statistical analysis, it was concluded that content with the characteristics of informativeness and communication had a statistically significant higher user response. Based on these research results, this study proposed several significant strategies to increase views and to receive positive responses from users.
