본 연구의 목적은 인지 기술 훈련 프로그램을 상담자들에게 적용하였을 때 상담자의 내담 자에 대한 가설형성의 질과 상담 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것이다. 피험자는 11명의 초심 상담자로 구성되었으며 총10시간의 인지 기술 훈련 프로그램을 실시하였다. 인지 기술 훈련프로그램은 상담자 혼자말, 자기지시 방략 그리고 가설형성 기술 등으로 구성되었다. 가설형성과 상담능력 측정 설문지가 프로그램 사전ㆍ사후로 실시되었다. 그 결과 내담자에 대한 가설형성 기술의 과제에서 훈련 프로그램을 받은 후에 상담자들의 가설형성에서 명백한 질적 수준의 향상을 보였고 상담자의 상담 능력을 전반적으로 향상시켜 주는 것으로 나타났다. 참가자들의 소감문을 분석해 본 결과에서도 본 프로그램이 내담자를 이해하고 내담자에 대한 가설을 형성하고 개입 기술을 채택하는 등에 실제적인 도움을 주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 개발된 인지 기술 훈련 프로그램을 실제 상담자들에게 적용하여 가능한 한 빨리 인지 기술을 학습하고 이를 상담 장면에서 활용하도록 교육시킬 수 있었다는 점, 그리고 앞으로 이를 활용해 상담자 발달과정에서 숙련 상담자가 되기 위해 소요되는 오랜 기간을 단축할 수 있는 가능성을 보여준 접에 그 의의가 있다고 하겠다.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a cognitive skills training program which applied to counseling practice, on counselors' quality of the hypotheses formation for treatment of clients and counselors' counseling ability. Subjects consisted of eleven novice counselors(eight female and three male). They participated in a 10-hour cognitive skills training program. The program consisted of self-talk, self-instruction strategy and hypotheses formation skill etc. The hypotheses formation and counseling ability check list were administered before and after treatment. It is found the counselors' quality of hypotheses formation and counselors' counseling ability were improved respectively. The analyses of the subjects' written opinions about the training program also identified that they understood their clients' problems more clearly, formulated the hypotheses for the treatment of clients more qualitatively, and chose interventional skills more appropriately than before treatment. The results of this study were discussed that the cognitive skills training program may be an important component of counselors' education. Through the cognitive skills training program, novice counselors would be able to acquire cognitive skills in a short-term and apply them effectively to counseling practice.
