본 연구는 한국사회에서 상담의 정체성 확립과 발전과제에 대해 논의하였다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해서 한국 상담의 역사를 간략하게 검토해보고, 상담의 정체성에 대한 이론적인 조망과 실증 연구를 하였다. 그 결과, 한국 상담의 정체성은 상담자의 전문가적인 정체성, 상담의 학문적인 정체성, 한국 상담관련 조직과 정책에서 상담의 정체성 확립, 한국적인 상담모형의 정착을 통해 발전될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 앞으로 상담은 과학적인 연구방법과 다른 학문 간의 교류를 통해 발전되어야 하며, 상담자들은 전문가로서 계속적인 노력과 훈련을 경진할 필요가 있다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate issues for identification in relation to counseling in Korean society. Firstly, this paper describes that history of counseling, the identification of counseling, and issues of relevance to Korean society in terms of practical counseling research. Then, and the theoretical perspectives of identification in relation to counseling are explained. it is argued here that there should exist a form of identification for professional counselor’s and a Korean model of counseling in order to better establish a stronger sense of identification for counseling in Korea. From this point of view, the science of counseling should involve a combination of science and the social sciences and humanities in order to improve the quality of counseling and research. Further development of counseling organizations, policy promoting counseling should be activated. Therefore, Korean counseling, for it to progress, will have to develop the means of raising skills needed for the solving of problems, undertaking high quality scientific research, and establishing a fruitful and ongoing dialogue with the social sciences and other related fields. Additionally, the quality of counselors depends heavily on their training, support and professional development-all of which must be improved and developed further.
