Editorial
direction
The Korean Journal of Psychology: General (KJPG) publishes reviews, empirical studies, and methodological articles that make important contributions to the various fields of psychology.
First, the identity of a journal is determined by the nature and quality of published papers. Therefore, the Korean Journal of Psychology: General focuses on publishing review articles. KJPG welcomes critical integrative review manuscripts from existing empirical research. More specifically, manuscripts that present not only a new theoretical perspective that goes beyond the limitations of various perspectives in psychology but also include a comprehensive commentary on existing research findings, critical reviews of multiple theoretical models in a specific field, and meta-theoretical critiques. In addition, it is possible to have comprehensive review manuscripts on research topics that involve social issues, as well as clear explanations and appropriate categorization and comparison of ambiguous or complex theories and models. Furthermore, special issues or sections can be published on research topics of considerable academic and social interest. Please be aware that we are conducting an eligibility review of the manuscripts prior to the peer review process to publish high-quality papers that are consistent with the aim of the academic journal.
Second, in empirical research, KJPG focuses on publishing manuscripts of interest across various fields of psychology. Although a comprehensive approach to a specific topic is important, such issues can be adequately addressed in discipline-specific journals. Therefore, it aims to establish a platform on which research efforts could be shared using diverse methodologies to explore more complex and diverse topics that are difficult to cover in discipline-specific journals. In this regard, KJPG aims to avoid research manuscripts based solely on a single-source, cross-sectional, and self-report survey design. Instead, KJPG seeks to develop a platform for sharing research manuscripts that obtain data from multiple sources using multiple methods or that are based on data collected at multiple time points.
Third, KJPG aims to actively publish literature related to its research methodology. Specifically, KJPG prioritizes the development and dissemination of methods that can enhance researchers' understanding and application of data collection, analysis, and interpretation in psychological research. KJPG welcomes new approaches to the methodology of psychology, which includes research design, measurement, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. These include reviews of important issues related to methodologies, tutorials, articles illustrating the innovative application of new procedures to address issues in psychological research, articles that teach new methods, and articles that provide reviews of data analysis programs. Considering that readers of this academic journal encompass diverse fields of psychology, it is recommended that submitted manuscripts include specific examples of how the methods and procedures discussed can enhance psychological research.

However, exceptional cases will be determined by the review committee.
Special
