Abstract

The purposes of this article are to raise the quality issues of Korean academic library collections and explore the feasible solutions to resolve the quality problems. To the end a thorough examination on the quality of Korean academic library collections is at the first hand carried out, and then followed is a careful investigation on the various causes of ‘surprisingly low quality’ of Korean academic library collections. Finally discussed is the solutions to improve the low quality of library collections at both national and individual academic library level. Discussions on this article are based on the sample data with 10 major academic libraries in South Korea.
