이 연구는 소년원에 있는 비행청소년들의 우울/불안 및 공격성의 수준에 따라서 그들이 경험하는 일상생활 적응문제의 정도가 다른지, 그리고 이러한 차이가 남녀 집단에서 다르게 나타나는지를 알아보고자 수행되었다. 전국 소년원에 있는 남녀 비행청소년 258명에게 실시한 K-YSR 청소년 자기행동 평가척도의 우울/불안 하위척도와 공격성 하위척도에서 60T점(백분위 85%)을 기준으로 우울/불안 고저 및 공격성 고저 집단을 구성하였다. 대인관계, 학업 및 진로, 개인적 문제 등 다양한 생활적응문제의 영역들에서 청소년이 겪는 문제의 정도를 측정하기 위하여, 청소년 자기보고형 문제행동 평가척도를 실시하였다. 성별과 우울/불안 및 공격성의 수준에 따른 생활적응문제 정도의 차이를 검증하기 위하여, 성별(남/녀) × 우울/불안(고/저) × 공격성(고/저)의 3원 분산분석을 실시한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우울/불안의 수준에 따라서 소년원 청소년들이 가족관계문제, 또래관계문제, 교사와의 관계문제, 학업/주의문제, 인터넷중독, 섭식문제 및 충동/과다행동의 문제를 경험하는 정도가 달랐다. 둘째, 공격성의 수준에 따라서 또래관계문제, 교사와의 관계문제, 진로문제, 학교부적응, 인터넷중독, 섭식문제, 충동/과다행동 및 비행(폭력, 성폭력, 약물비행)의 문제를 경험하는 정도가 달랐다. 셋째, 남자 비행청소년들의 진로문제, 학교부적응, 충동/과다행동 및 비행의 정도는 우울/불안의 수준에 따라서 유의한 차이를 보인 반면에, 여자 집단에서는 우울/불안의 수준에 따른 차이가 유의하지 않았다. 마지막으로, 또래관계문제에 대한 우울/불안과 공격성의 상호작용효과가 남녀 집단에서 다르게 나타났다. 남녀 비행청소년들이 비행문제에 더하여 우울/불안 또는 공격성의 문제를 가짐으로써 나타난 합병(comorbidity) 효과에 근거하여, 비행청소년들의 일상생활 적응문제에 대한 포괄적 이해의 필요성과 청소년 비행상담의 방안에 관하여 논의하였다.
This study was conducted to examine the effects of comorbidity of depression/anxiety and aggression on juvenile delinquents’ adjustment problems and to test sex differences in the comorbidity effects. Two-hundred fifty-eight juvenile delinquents incarcerated in juvenile protection education institutions in Korea participated in this study. For depression/anxiety and aggression, K-YSR T scores ≥ 60 and < 60 were used for discrimination of high versus low groups. Sex (male vs. female) × Depression/Anxiety (high vs. low) × Aggression (high vs. low) analyses of variance were conducted, with the scores on the subscales of the Self-Report Form of the Adolescent Problem Behavior Rating Scale and specific delinquency items as dependent variables. The main effects of depression/anxiety were significant for problems with family relations, peer relations, relations with teachers, learning/attention problems, internet addiction, eating problems, and impulsivity/hyperactivity. However, the effects of depression/anxiety on career problems, school maladjustment, impulsivity/hyperactivity and delinquency were found to be significant only in the male group. In addition, the main effects of aggression were significant for problems with peer relations, relations with teachers, career problems, school maladjustment, internet addiction, eating problems, impulsivity/hyperactivity, delinquency in general, violent delinquency, sex offenses, and substance-related delinquency. The comorbidity effects of depression/anxiety and aggression on problems with peer relations differed between the male and female groups. On the basis of the comorbidity effects of depression/anxiety and aggression in the sample of incarcerated juvenile delinquents, we discussed the necessity for a more intensive understanding and more comprehensive counseling services for those experiencing various adjustment problems.
