삶의 의미와 정서조절 양식이청소년의 심리적 안녕에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Life Meaning and Emotional Regulation Strategies on Psychological Well-being of Korean Adolescents

초록

본 연구에서는 삶의 의미와 정서조절 양식이 청소년의 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 남녀 중고생 365명을 대상으로 우선, 삶의 의미 및 정서조절 양식의 각 하위요인과 청소년의 심리적 안녕감간의 관계성을 알아보고자 하였다. 그 다음, 삶의 의미 하위요인들과 정서조절 양식 하위요인 중 어떤 것이 청소년의 심리적 안녕감과 가장 밀접히 관련되는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구통계학적 변인들에 따른 삶의 의미, 정서조절양식, 그리고 심리적 안녕감의 차이를 분석한 결과, 성별, 학년, 종교의 종류, 평균 학업성적, 가구당 소득, 여가생활만족, 그리고 미래 생활수준에 대한 인지에 따라서 다양하게 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 삶의 의미와 정서조절 양식 각각의 하위요인이 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 단순회귀분석한 결과, 삶의 의미에서는 관계자아, 심적안정, 성취, 신체․물질적 안정, 수용, 자아초월의 순서대로 안녕감에 미치는 영향이 정적으로 유의미하였다. 정서조절 양식에서는 능동적 정서조절 양식, 지지적 정서조절 양식, 회피-분산적 정서조절 양식의 순서대로 안녕감에 미치는 영향이 유의미하였으며, 회피-분산적 정서조절 양식은 부적으로 유의미하였다. 셋째, 삶의 의미와 정서조절 양식의 하위요인들 중 안녕감에 가장 밀접하게 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위해 단계적 중다회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 관계자아, 심적안정, 능동적 정서조절 양식, 성취, 신체․물질적 안정의 순서대로 다섯 요인만이 예측 모델에 포함되었다. 결론적으로 청소년들이 그들이 맺는 관계 속에서 자신을 긍정적으로 지각하는 정도가 청소년의 심리적 안녕감을 가장 잘 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 추후연구를 위한 제언과 본 연구의 제한점이 언급되었다.

Abstract

the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of life meaning and emotional regulation strategies on psychological well-being of Korean adolescents. Three hundred sixty-five Korean middle and high school students in Seoul completed Koreans' Life Meaning Profile for Koreans (KLMP), Emotional Regulation Strategies Checklist, and Well-Being Manifestation Measure Scale (WBMMS). A factor analysis was conducted to verify the structure of Koreans' Life Meaning Profile for Koreans (KLMP) and Emotional Regulation Strategies Checklist. A simple regression showed that 7 subscales of life meaning (achievement, religion, psychological stability, perceived self in relationship, acceptance, self-transcendence, physical and materialistic stability) and 3 subscales of emotional regulation strategies (active regulation style, avoidant/distract regulation style, and support-seeking regulation style) have significant positive effects on psychological well-being. Active regulation style and supportive-seeking regulation style has positive influences on psychological well-being, while avoidant/distract regulation style has negative influences. In addition, results of stepwise multiple regression showed that among the subscales of life meaning and emotional regulation strategies, perceived self in relationship was the best predictor of psychological well-being of Korean adolescents. Psychological stability, active regulation style, achievement, and physical and materialistic stability were included in the predictable model of psychological well-being. Implications and limitations of the results and suggestions for the future study were discussed.
