본 연구는 성폭력 상담에서 내담자들이 지각하는 도움경험과 도움경험에 영향을 준 요인들을 파악하고자 하였다. 아울러 내담자들이 어떤 기대와 호소 문제를 가지고 상담을 시작하며, 상담에서 어떤 어려움을 경험하는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해 성폭력 피해를 주 호소 문제로 하여 심리상담을 경험한 10명의 내담자를 인터뷰하였으며 합의에 의한 질적 연구방법(CQR)을 통하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 상담에서 내담자들이 지각한 도움경험은 ‘새로운 시각을 갖게 됨’, ‘상담자가 자신을 공감하고 이해, 지지해줌’, ‘실질적인 문제 해결에 도움을 줌’, ‘심리적으로 안정되고 미래에 대한 희망이 생김’, ‘자기개방과 감정표출’의 5가지 범주로 나타났다. ‘비밀이 보장되며 자신의 이야기를 할 수 있고 들어주는 사람이 있다’는 상담 자체 요인과 ‘자신의 이야기를 했다’는 내담자 요인, 그리고 ‘상담자의 경청’, ‘공감과 이해, 위로’, ‘친절하고 따듯한 태도’, ‘문제 해결 방법을 제시하고 조언’하며, ‘새로운 시각을 제시’하는 상담자 요인이 도움경험을 하는 데 영향을 미쳤다. 내담자들은 비밀이 보장되기에 상담에서 자신의 이야기를 할 수 있으며 이야기를 하고 나면 마음이 편해지고 시원해질 것이라고 기대하였으며 실제로도 그러하였으나 상담에서 자신의 이야기를 하는 것이 어렵고 힘들었다고 보고하였다.
The aim of this study was to explore what clients' helpful experiences in sexual violence counseling are and what factors influence helpful experiences. For the purpose of this study, 10 clients who had attended more than 10 sessions of psychological counseling were interviewed, and the interview data was then analyzed through the medium of consensual qualitative research (CQR). As a result, the factors that influenced clients' helpful experiences were divided into five domains: (1) counseling helped them to gain new insights into their own experiences (2) the counselor empathically understood and supported them (3) the counselor provided help in problem-solving (4) the counseling helped clients feel emotionally secure and restored a sense of hope about the future, and (5), counseling helped clients talk about themselves openly and express their feelings. The following factors; confidentiality based on the relationship between counselors and clients, clients' self-disclosure, and counselors' active listening could all be categorized as counseling factors, and clients' talking about issues concerning themselves could be seen as a client factor. Finally, counselors' active listening, empathic understanding, warmth and kindness, advice as regards problem-solving, and suggestions leading to new insight could all be categorized as counselor factors.
