본 연구에서는 대상화 이론을 바탕으로 재한 중국 여자 유학생의 대인관계에서의 성적 대상화 경험이 내면화, 신체감시, 신체수치심을 매개하여 섭식행동에 영향을 미치고, 성적 대상화 경험과 내면화, 성적 대상화 경험과 신체감시의 관계를 지각된 차별감이 조절하는지를 살펴보았다. 총 228명의 재한 중국 여자 유학생들을 대상으로 본 연구의 조절된 매개모형은 자료에 적합한 것으로 나타났고, 조절된 매개효과는 일부가 지지되었다. 첫째, 매개효과 검증 결과, 재한 중국 여자 유학생의 대인관계에서의 성적 대상화 경험이 내면화, 신체감시, 신체수치심을 매개하여 섭식행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조절효과 검증 결과, 지각된 차별감은 성적 대상화 경험과 신체감시의 관계만을 조절하였다. 셋째, 조절된 매개효과 검증 결과, 지각된 차별감이 조절하는 성적 대상화 경험과 신체감시의 관계가 신체감시와 신체수치심을 매개로 섭식행동에 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 시사점과 한계를 제시했고, 후속 연구를 제언했다.
The current study examined whether perceived discrimination moderated the indirect effect of interpersonal sexual objectification experience on eating behavior through internalization, body surveillance, and body shame among female Chinese international students in South Korea. Results from 228 female Chinese international students indicated that interpersonal sexual objectification experience had a significant indirect positive relationship with negative eating behavior through mediation by internalization, body surveillance, and body shame. Additionally, perceived discrimination had a moderating effect on the relationship between sexual objectification experience and body surveillance. Finally, perceived discrimination moderated the indirect effect of interpersonal sexual objectification experience on negative eating behavior through body surveillance and body shame. The implications of the current study for future research and therapy practices are discussed.
