본 연구는 성매매경험여성이 성매매경험으로 인해 마주하는 상실과 그에 따른 애도 과정에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 개인의 내적 경험을 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있는 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 성매매경험여성 5명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였고, Giorgi의 현상학적 연구 방법을 적용해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 80개의 핵심 중심의미, 28개의 주제, 7개의 대주제가 도출되었다. 대주제의 구체적인 내용으로는 ‘성매매 진입과 지속 요인’, ‘다양한 성매매 업종에서 갖은 폭력과 학대에 시달림’, ‘상실의 유형’, ‘상실에 대한 애도 과정’, ‘박탈된 애도 과정’, ‘애도 과정에 도움이 되는 요인’, ‘애도 과정에 도움이 되지 않는 요인’이 나타났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 성매매경험여성의 상실이 발생하게 되는 배경과 상실의 유형, 애도 과정에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인할 수 있었으며, 성매매경험여성들이 사회적 낙인과 자기낙인의 영향으로 인해 박탈된 애도 과정을 경험하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구의 결과는 성매매경험여성의 상실 극복과 정상적인 애도 과정에 대한 개입 방안을 모색할 수 있는 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점을 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study was to explore post-prostitute women’s losses and grief process as a result of their prostitution experience. This necessitated the use of a qualitative research method to better understand individuals’ internal experiences. In-depth interviews with 5 participants were conducted, and data were collected using Giorgi's phenomenological method. As a result, 80 core meanings, 28 themes, and 7 categories were derived. Seven categories are as follows: ‘initiation and continuation factors of prostitution’, ‘harassment and abuse from various prostitution industries’, ‘type of losses’, ‘grief process for the identified losses’, ‘the process of disenfranchised grief’, ‘the factors that help the grieving process’, ‘the factors that hinder the grieving process’. Through the findings, the circumstances of the losses, the types of identified losses, and the factors that affect the grief process were identified. Post-prostitute women’s losses were not recognized and validated due to social and self-stigma. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
