본 연구에서는 취업한 기혼 남성과 여성이 왜 억울을 느끼는지 그리고 억울할 때 어떤 행동을 취하는지를 살펴보고, 억울을 느끼는 이유에 있어 남녀 차이가 있는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해, 직장을 다니고 있는 기혼 남성 120명과 기혼 여성 120명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였고, 수정된 합의적 질적 연구 방법을 통해 자료 분석을 실시했다. 그 결과, 억울을 느끼는 전반적인 이유로 4개의 영역(‘내가 감당할 이유가 없거나 나에 대해 오해할 때’, ‘공정한 평가나 대우를 받지 못할 때’, ‘건강이나 경제적 어려움을 경험할 때’, ‘관계적 어려움을 경험할 때’ ‘한국사회의 부정부패를 접할 때’)이 도출되었다. 남성과 여성을 구분하여 억울의 원인을 살펴본 결과, 남성의 경우, 4개의 영역(‘남성이라는 이유로 비난을 받을 때’, ‘직장 관련 어려움을 경험할 때’, ‘성역할 고정관념을 경험할 때’, ‘차별을 경험할 때’)이 확인된 반면에 여성의 경우, 5개의 영역(‘여성은 남성에 비해 ‘약함’ 때문에’, ‘직장 관련 어려움을 경험할 때’, ‘여성에 대한 성적대상화 때문에’, ‘성역할 고정관념을 경험할 때’, ‘남성우월주의 때문에’)이 확인되었다. 마지막으로, 억울할 때 취하는 행동으로는 3개의 영역(‘회피적 행동’, ‘직접적 표출적 행동’, ‘간접적 표출적 행동’)이 도출되었다.
The purpose of this study was to explore why married working men and women feel eogul and how they behave in those situations. For this, we conducted online surveys and analyzed the surveys using a modified consensual qualitative research methodology. The results revealed four domains for the general causes of feeling eogul (‘having to take responsibility for things that are not my fault or being misunderstood,’ ‘not being fairly evaluated or compensated,’ ‘having health or financial problems,’ ‘encountering relational difficulties or observing corruption’). Men and women appeared to experience eogul due to different reasons. Four domains (‘being blamed for being a male’, ‘experiencing work-related stress’, ‘experiencing traditional gender-role attitudes’, ‘experiencing discrimination’) emerged for men, while five domains (‘being weaker than men’, ‘experiencing work-related stress’, ‘experiencing sexual objectification’, ‘experiencing traditional gender-role attitudes’, ‘male supremacy’) emerged for women. Lastly, three domains (avoidance, direct expression, and indirect expression) emerged for eogul-related behaviors.
