<The Journal of the Korean Psychological Association: General Editorial Direction Summary>

 

Korean Journal of Psychology: Generalpublishes creative theoretical research, evaluative and integrative review, interdisciplinary empirical research, and measurement and research methodology articles in the field of psychology.

 

· Review

- Evaluative and integrative review of existing empirical studies.

- Critical review and meta-analysis of theoretical models in a particular area.

- Comprehensive review of socially relevant research topics.

 

· Interdisciplinary Empirical Studies

- Empirical research focusing on complex topics that are of interest to multiple fields of psychology but are difficult to cover in discipline-specific journals.

- Research based on data from a single, self-report survey is discouraged.

 

· Measurement and Research Methodology

- Studies on measurement and research methodology that apply novel approaches to psychological research methods, such as research design, measurement, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.

-Focusing on studies in which psychological measurement and methodology are central themes rather than generic scale development studies using existing common methods.

Article 8 (Article Submission Qualification)

There are no restrictions on the eligibility for submitting papers.

Article 9 (Responsible Author)

1. The responsible authors of the articles submitted to the journal are the first author and the corresponding author.

2. When submitting a manuscript, the submission application must include 1) all authors' names, 2) their affiliations, and 3) the designation of the corresponding author. Information provided at the time of submission should generally not be changed (e.g., adding, removing authors, or changing the order of authors). However, changes may be allowed with the approval of the Editorial Board in unavoidable circumstances.

Article 10 (Authorship Limits)

The maximum number of manuscripts that can be published per author in a single issue is as follows:

a) Two manuscripts as a co-author.

b) One manuscript as a responsible author (first author or corresponding author) and one manuscript as a co-author for a total of two manuscripts.

c) Two manuscripts as a responsible author (first author or corresponding author) are not allowed.

Article 11 (Manuscript Submission and Receipt)

1. Manuscripts intended for publication in the journal are accepted on a rolling basis through the submission method designated by the Korean Psychological Association. Submissions must include the manuscript file, the manuscript submission form, a researcher ethics pledge, a copyright transfer agreement, proof of completion of research ethics education (completed by either the first author or the corresponding author within the last three years as recognized by the Korean Psychological Association), and a plagiarism check result from a plagiarism detection tool designated by the Editorial Board.

2. Manuscripts under review by other domestic or international academic journals cannot be submitted, and those under review by this journal cannot be submitted to other academic journals. This is considered a serious breach of research ethics.

3. When republishing content that has already been published in other domestic or international academic journals, national and private research and project area reports, books, magazines, etc., the author must report to the Editorial Board and obtain approval before submission. Non-compliance will be considered plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

 

4. Manuscripts should be prepared using Hangul, and the recommended length is 15-20 pages.

This submission has not been previously published. If necessary, an explanation regarding the publication of the manuscript should be provided to the Editorial Board.

The submission files should be in Word-processor format (.doc) or Hangul (.hwp) format.

Specific details should adhere to the guidelines provided in the Korean Psychological Association's book, "Guidelines for Academic Manuscript Writing and Publishing, 2nd Edition (2012, Park Youngsa)," as well as the APA manuscript writing style.

 

Since June 2020, the submitted manuscripts should use Romanization for  in-text citations and the reference list, following the APA 7th edition.

For empirical research manuscripts to qualify for the eligibility review, the copyright transfer agreement form requires two or more relevant categories among the 15 categories (Note: The previous requirement of three categories has been relaxed to two categories).

The 15 categories are as follows: Clinical, Counseling, Industrial and Organizational, Social and Personality, Developmental, Cognitive and Biological, Cultural and Social Issues, Health, Women, Consumer Advertising, School, Law, Addiction, Coaching, and Psychological. Measurement and Assessment).

 

*What is the eligibility review?

In the [The Korean Journal of Psychology: General], a preliminary eligibility review is conducted to ensure the publication of high-quality research consistent with the editorial direction and guidelines. The review process will commence if the manuscript passes the eligibility review.

The submitted manuscript is written in either Korean or English.

The author's personal information has to be removed from the submitted file, and I acknowledge that failure to do so would result in the automatic cancellation of the submission.

All pages are numbered consecutively, starting with one.

The submitted manuscript should include an abstract of approximately 150 words (600 characters) at the beginning of the main text, followed by an English abstract and up to five keywords in the references section.

The submitted manuscript is not based on a single-source, cross-sectional, and self-report survey design. In special cases, this is explained at the bottom of the submission form.

The author information in the document has been changed to "000" in the review file (HWP file > Document information > Document summary > Author).

If the study has undergone IRB review, the IRB number is indicated in the manuscript.

According to the Open Access Publication Policy, the scope of free use for the Journal of the Korean Psychological Association: General is as follows. The Korean Psychological Association has adopted the "CC-BY-NC: Attribution-Noncommercial" license from the six types of CC licenses, which allows for free use when the author is credited but is restricted for commercial purposes. Please follow the same policy in the case of the manuscript.

Publication fees should paid after acceptance for publication, and the amount to be paid is determined based on the type of manuscript, its length, and whether acknowledgments are included.
