본 연구는 한국의 고학력 여성들이 교육을 통해 획득한 지식과 능력을 충분히 활용하지 못하고 낮은 경제활동참가율 및 경력발달의 중단을 보이는 현상에 주목하여, 직업 진로 이행이 임박한 여대생들을 대상으로 이들의 문화적 성향에 따른 진로관련 특성 차이를 탐색적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 16개 대학의 4학년 여대생 총 471명을 대상으로 주체적, 대상적, 자율적 자기로 구분되는 문화적 성향을 측정하고 잠재계층 분석을 한 결과, 한국 여대생들은 3개의 문화적 성향 잠재계층으로 분류되었다. 또한 이들이 문화적 성향 잠재계층에 따라 진로정체감, 진로결정 자기효능감, 다중역할계획태도, 구직행동에 있어서 어떤 차이를 보이는지 ANOVA 분석과 사후분석을 통해 살펴본 결과, 문화적 성향에 따른 3개의 하위집단별로 진로관련변인(진로정체감, 진로결정 자기효능감, 다중역할계획태도, 구직행동)이 다른 특성을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 여대생의 진로상담에 있어 한국 사회라는 특수한 사회문화적 맥락 안에서 여대생들의 문화적 성향에 따른 이질적인 집단의 특성을 고려하여야 함을 논의하고, 연구의 의의 및 제한점을 밝혔다.
While young Korean women’s desire for social participation has shown an important progress, there is still significant gap in the area of economic opportunity. Female university students, who were growing up in the collective culture emphasizing the women’s subordinate position to men, tend to go through more conflicts in their career development. The study was intended to reveal latent classes for female university students(N=471) according to investigate naturally generated self-construal. Additionally, class differences in career identity, career decision making self-efficacy, attitude towards multiple role planning, and job search behavior were examined. Three self-construal classes were identified. The significant class differences were found in all the career variables except involvement of attitude towards multiple role planning. These findings suggest the need to consider differentiated career counseling approaches and interventions for self-construal classes of female university students in Korea.
