본 연구에서는 대학생을 대상으로 내현적 자기애가 완벽주의에 미치는 관계에서 수치심과 자기비난의 매개효과를 알아보았다. 자료 수집을 위해 내현적 자기애 척도, 다차원 완벽주의 척도의 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의 하위 척도, 내면화된 수치심 척도, 우울 경험 질문지의 자기비난 하위 척도로 구성된 질문지를 서울과 경기도 지역 소재 남녀 대학생에게 배부하여 총 450명의 사례가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 주요 변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시하였고, 수치심과 자기비난이 내현적 자기애와 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의 간의 관계에서 매개하는지를 알아보기 위하여 매개모형 검증을 실시하였다. 내현적 자기애와 수치심, 자기비난이 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의에 영향을 미치는 경로를 검증해본 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애는 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 동시에 수치심과 자기비난을 매개로 하여 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애와 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의의 관계에서 수치심과 자기비난이 부분 이중 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 후속연구에 대한 제언과 시사점을 논의하였다.
This study was aimed to examine the mediating effects of shame and self-criticism on the relation between covert narcissism and socially prescribed perfectionism. A sample of 450 (160 men, 290 women) undergraduates in Seoul metropolitan regions was surveyed. Questionnaires including Covert Narcissism Scale (CNS), Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS), Internalized Shame Scale (ISS), and Depressive Experiences Questionnaire (DEQ) were implemented by participants. Correlation analysis and structural equation modeling were employed. Particularly, bootstrapping were used to test the significance of indirect effect. Significant positive correlations among covert narcissism, socially prescribed perfectionism, shame and self-criticism were found. Additionally, covert narcissism influences socially prescribed perfectionism directly as well as effects indirectly through shame and self-criticism. The results indicated that shame and self-criticism would play mediation roles in the relation between covert narcissism and socially prescribed perfectionism(i.e., partial double mediation effects of shame and self-criticism). Findings and implications of this study are discussed.
