본 연구의 목적은 전공과 희망직업이 불일치하는 대학생들의 진로스토리를 분석하여 이들의 진로결정에 있어서의 경험을 밝히고 그 과정과 유형을 확인하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 현재 전공학과와 희망직업이 일치하지 않는 대학교 3, 4학년 학생들을 대상으로 내러티브 진로접근 중 하나인 진로스토리를 적용한 면담을 실시하였다. 면담 자료를 근거이론 방법으로 분석하여 전공과 희망직업 불일치 대학생의 진로결정 경험의 구조를 인과적 조건, 현상, 맥락적 조건, 중재적 조건, 결과를 포함하는 패러다임 모형으로 제시하였다. 또한 과정 분석을 통해 단계별로 작용하는 주요 요인을 분석하여 진로결정과정과 유형을 분류하였다. 그 결과, 전공과 희망직업 불일치 대학생이 경험하는 현상은 ‘흔들림’이었고, 핵심범주는 ‘통합과 확장으로 의미를 되찾음’이었다. 전공과 희망직업 불일치 대학생은 가지 않은 길에 대한 동경과 의미를 잃어버린 전공에서 흔들림을 경험하게 되고, 통합과 확장을 통해 흔들림에 대처하며 진로에서 다시 의미를 되찾게 되었다. 전공과 희망직업이 불일치하는 대학생의 진로결정과정은 ‘정체 단계’, ‘자기재인식 단계’, ‘전공전환 및 확장 단계’, ‘진로재발견 단계’의 4단계로 나타났고, 진로결정에 있어서의 ‘흔들림’현상과 핵심범주인 ‘통합과 확장으로 의미를 되찾음’의 유형은 ‘갈등형’, ‘낭만형’, ‘숙고형’, ‘전략형’, ‘통합형’의 5가지 유형으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze career stories of college students whose majors mismatch their desired job, discern the experience of their career decision making, and identify this process and pattern. Participants were college seniors who currently experience the mismatch between their majors and their desired job and prepare for career in other areas. Author interviewed the participants while applying career stories, one of narrative approach. The interviewed data were analyzed the interviewed data according to grounded theory method. The main phenomenon was ‘wavering’ which was revealed in this study. The core categories was found as ‘recovering own significance by integration and expansion’. The process was 4 phases like ‘stagnation phase’, ‘new self-understanding’, ‘major conversion and expansion phase’, and ‘career rediscover phase’. The type ‘recovering own significance by integration and expansion’ was identified 5 types like ‘conflict type’, ‘romantic type’, ‘deliberation type’, ‘strategy type’, and ‘integration type’.
