본 연구의 목적은 상담전문가들의 역전이 관리 경험의 구조와 과정을 설명하는 실체이론을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 상담전문가 9명을 목적적으로 표집하여 반구조화 인터뷰 질문으로 심층면접을 실시하였고 근거이론 방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 121개의 개념, 55개의 하위범주, 24개의 범주가 도출되었다. ‘압도당하고 붙들림’이란 중심현상을 중심으로 패러다임 모형이 도출되었고 핵심범주는 ‘압도됨 속에서 고군분투하다가, 오랜 기간의 수련을 통해 나를 알아차리게 되고 드러낼 수 있게 되면서 내담자의 핵심을 다룰 수 있게 됨’ 으로 밝혀졌다. 상담전문가의 역전이 관리 경험의 과정은 시간의 흐름에 따라 ‘막힘’, ‘고군분투’, ‘알아차림’, ‘버티기’, ‘담아내기’, ‘핵심 다루기’, ‘문제해결 반복’ 그리고 ‘숙달’의 8단계로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 상담전문가의 역전이 관리 경험에 관한 논의와 제한점 및 후속연구에 대한 제언을 하였다. 본 연구는 숙련된 상담전문가를 대상으로 상담 실제에서의 역전이 관리 경험의 구조와 과정에 관하여 심층적으로 밝힌 데 그 의의가 있다.
This study aims to propose a substantial theory describing the process of expert counselor’s countertransference management. In-depth interviews were conducted with nine expert counselors. Using a grounded theory approach, 121 concepts, 55 sub-categories and 24 categories were derived from open coding. The paradigm model of central phenomenon revealed as ‘overwhelmed and tied’. The core category was, ‘While struggling with being overwhelmed, they have been able to work with the client’s core problem by participating in self-awareness and self-disclosure training.” Results showed the following stages in the process of expert counselor’s countertransference management: ‘the stage of being blocked’, ‘the stage of struggling’, ‘the stage of awareness’, ‘the stage of keeping moderate’, ‘the stage of containment’, ‘the stage of working with the core problem’, ‘the stage of problem solving’ and ‘the stage of mastery’. Finally, Implications of the results and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
