본 연구에서는 초등학생이 지각한 가족응집성 및 가족적응성이 자살생각에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 회복탄력성의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 서울과 대구에 위치한 3개 초등학교 5, 6학년 424명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 상관분석과 경로분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 가족응집성 및 가족적응성, 회복탄력성의 하위요인인 자기조절능력, 대인관계능력, 긍정성은 자살생각과 유의미한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가족응집성 및 가족적응성과 자살생각 간의 관계를 매개하는 변인으로 회복탄력성의 하위요인 3개를 각각 검증한 결과, 긍정성만 유의한 매개효과를 나타냈다. 자기조절능력과 대인관계능력의 매개효과는 유의하지 않았으며, 가족응집성만이 자살생각에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 회복탄력성의 하위요인인 긍정성 모형에서는 가족응집성이 긍정성을 통해서만 자살생각에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과는 가족응집성이 초등학생의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 유의한 예측 변인임을 보여주며, 회복탄력성을 구성하는 개념 중 긍정성이 가족응집성과 자살생각의 관계를 매개하는 중요한 변인임을 보여준다. 본 연구의 결과는 초등학생의 자살생각을 예방하기 위해서는 긍정성에 초점을 맞춘 회복탄력성의 증진이 중요함을 시사한다. 높은 회복탄력성은 취약한 가족체계 하에 있는 아동들을 자살생각의 위험으로부터 보호해주는 기능을 할 것으로 기대된다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family cohesion and family adaptability on elementary school students’ suicidal ideation and to identify the mediation effect of resilience. A total of 424 5th and 6th grade students from 3 schools in Seoul and Daegu participated in the study. Correlation analysis showed significant correlations among family cohesion, family adaptability, 3 subscales of resilience, and suicidal ideation. In path analysis, only positiveness, one of the 3 subscales of resilience, fully mediated the effect of family cohesion on suicidal ideation. Self-regulation ability and interpersonal ability did not show significant mediating effects while family-cohesion directly affected suicidal ideation. In conclusion, family cohesion is a meaningful predictor of children’s suicidal ideation and resilience and, positiveness, serves as an important mediating factor between vulnerable family function and suicidal ideation.
