이 연구에서는 중년여성 한부모를 대상으로 성역할갈등과 외상 후 성장의 관계를 사회적 지지와 삶의 의미가 매개하는지 알아보았다. 구조모형 분석을 위해 40세 이후에 배우자와 사별하였거나 또는 이혼한 뒤 2년 이상 경과하였고, 한 명 이상의 자녀와 함께 생활하고 있으며, 재혼하지 않은 40대-50대 중년여성 한부모 241명의 자료를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 상관관계 분석을 실시하여 변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보았고, 성역할갈등과 외상 후 성장의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 삶의 의미가 매개하는지를 알아보기 위하여 매개모형 검증을 실시하였다. 성역할갈등과 사회적 지지, 삶의 의미가 외상 후 성장에 영향을 미치는 경로를 검증해본 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성역할갈등이 외상 후 성장에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 동시에, 삶의 의미를 매개로 하여 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성역할갈등과 외상 후 성장의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 삶의 의미의 부분 매개효과 또한 유의한 결과를 보였다. 이 연구의 결과가 상담에서 갖는 의미, 제한점을 제시하였고 후속 연구에 대하여 제언하였다.
This study examined whether social support and meaning of life mediates the relationship between gender role conflict and posttraumatic growth in middle-aged female single parents. For the structural model analysis, data collected from 241 female, single parents (classified by marital status) in their 40s-50s was used. Correlation analysis and mediator model verification were performed on the collected data to examine whether social support and meaning of life had mediating roles in the gender role conflict and posttraumatic growth relation. The results of the verification are as follows. First, gender role conflict had a direct impact on posttraumatic growth and an indirect impact on posttraumatic growth with meaning of life as a parameter. Second, the partial mediating effect of social support and meaning of life were significant in the relationship between gender role conflict and posttraumatic growth. Implications for counseling practice are discussed and future research suggested.
