본 연구는 심리상담서비스의 사전동의 정보에 대한 대학생의 인식과 경험을 파악하기 위해 진행되었다. 이를 위해 대학생 174명을 대상으로 상담을 시작할 때 알고 싶은 정보, 34개 사전동의 정보의 중요도 평가, 선호하는 정보 제공 시점, 실제 제공 받은 정보의 현황을 조사하였다. 연구결과, 참여자들이 원하는 상담 정보가 사전동의 내용과 상당히 일치하였으며, 참여자들은 그중 상담자에 관한 정보를 가장 알고 싶어 하였다. 참여자들은 본 연구에서 제시한 사전동의 정보를 대부분 중요하게 평가하였고, 특히 비밀보장과 한계, 상담기록물, 비용, 다중관계, 내담자의 권리 등 내담자의 권익 보호와 서비스 비용에 관한 정보를 더 중요하게 인식하였다. 참여자들은 대부분의 사전동의 정보를 상담이 시작되기 전이나 첫 회기 중에 제공받길 원했으며, 상담비용에 관한 정보를 가장 먼저 알고 싶어 하였다. 이상의 결과에서 성별, 상담경험의 유무, 상담에 대한 신념에 따른 차이가 나타났다. 실무현장에서 내담자에게 가장 자주 제공되는 정보는 상담절차, 비밀보장과 한계, 상담의 이점과 효과이며, 가장 적게 제공되는 정보는 상담의 한계와 위험, 다중관계, 내담자의 권리인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 효과적인 사전동의 절차를 위한 시사점과 제언을 논의하였다.
This study examined college students’ perceptions and experiences with informed consent for psychological counseling services. Participants were 174 college students who completed questionnaires regarding the information they want when starting counseling, the importance and preferred timing of 34 consent items, and information provision status. Desired information was largely consistent with standard informed consent items. Students wanted information about the counselor the most. Participants rated most consent items as important, but prioritized confidentiality and limitations, records, costs, multiple relationships, and clients’ rights. Participants wanted to receive information before or during the first session, and wanted to know about cost first of all. The most frequently provided information included counseling procedures, confidentiality and limitations, and the benefits and effects of counseling. The information least frequently provided was the limits and risks of counseling, multiple relationships, and clients’ rights. Implications and recommendations for implementing effective and complete informed consent procedure are discussed.
